Don't know if it's official yet, but looks like you can buy tickets from here:

Just looked at The Ritz website and its showing NMA plating Saturday 16th November. ;D
-
:)
-
As it's in my back yard, there will be a After Gig Gathering for this one. Will post details when it's organised.
-
Certainly a better venue than the Academy 2 which until December 2011 NMA would of played at. If you like a good drink though I'd recommend not having one in the Ritz itself as it's expensive and crap at the same time
-
Usual haunts pre-Ritz gigs are The Salisbury and Grand Central (the venue for our first ever After-Show). Plenty of other places around that area too. When I get the chance, I'll knock together a few suggestions, as well as details of the After Show.

Good man! Loved the first one - decent sized boozer and your choice of music was great as ever! Just like Rock City in the late '80s/early '90s.....count me in again!
-
I,ll be up for that date to Barty, double nighter !!
-
Good man! Can't remember which hotel I stayed at last time but it was near Piccadilly train station, was cheap and clean and did the trick. Can't say the same for the Wolves one for Bilston so will have to find another for that.
-
Alright lad. We will have to get together when all the toor dates are in, and see which and what suits. Certainly up for a couple at least, and the at Xmas, the doo to take the wives to -- Rockers..
-
Yey just booked night off work :D

Back to the Grand Central afterwards then?
Yes please, don't mind if I do :)
-
The After Show will indeed be at Grand Central, like last time. Only 5 minutes walk from The Ritz. We've had to start it a bit later though, so it'll be a midnight to 2am job.,.gives you time to get a beer or a curry or whatever. Looking forward to it!
Reason for late start is that because its a Saturday night, the GC will be busy anyway.
-
Barty can you rack your brains and try and remember the name of the hotel you stopped in that was cheap in Manchester city centre. All the ones I seem to be looking at are in the £100 range for 1 night.
-
I can indeed! It was The Days Hotel in Sackville Street....it was about £40 but it looks about £85 now from a quick check......it's about a 10-15 min walk from the aftershow party! Pretty basic but clean and did the trick.
-
Thanks for that mate was hoping for something in the 40 to 50 pounds range but I don't think that is going to happen. Like the look of the Double Tree by Hilton on booking.com £90 for 1 night and also in Piccadilly.

No probs Dipple, mate - gotta sort one out myself so might try there (will keep you posted Shush if you're reading this.....or even if you're not ;D ;))
-
I am, or have read it. with Leeds , then Manchester, then Bilston, three hotels, and train fair between, its going to be a lot of dosh, so good luck finding somewhere cheap :)
-
Have a look outside of the city centre. Ibis Budget at Salford Quays is a possible.
-
Another one for the after show party! GC is a great pub, was in there this afternoon, The Salisbury is also great but the Thirsty Scholar is also a good-un...
I had this chat with Shush the other day about hotels... I often stay at Premier Inns and usually get great rates, but the date of the NMA gig is, for some reason, really expensive. Perhaps both City and United are playing at home? Or perhaps folks are coming over to do Christmas shopping? Whatever, I'm also struggling a bit to find a room at a decent rate. Any tips, please keep me posted.
-
Travelodge + Premier Inn etc are cheaper outside the City centre. We're driving back to Liverpool afterwards so if anyone finds something cheap @ Salford, Haydock, Warrington, M62, East Lancs Rd etc we may be able to offer a lift.
-
:hi,just wondered if anyone can go to aftergig party as i always see all familiar faces at every gig but as a woman going to these gigs on my own never have the nerve to talk to anyone, always feel like bit of a billy no mates.jane : :'( :'(
-
All welcome. Please come along, you'll be made very welcome!
-
Deffo come to the aftershow, it's not a tickets-only kind of thing. And Grand Central is a great pub. The last aftershow had some really good musuc playing. I'm sure you'll find someone friendly to talk to.
-
Jane, myself and Barty will be going, and will be glad to go with you. Don't worry, we are both old, and married, we will both act as gentlemen, or as near as we can be. send either of us a P/M if you like :)
-
thanks a lot for that,im a bit daft i see loads of familiar people at all the gigs just am a bit shy dont know what to say. like the last gig i went to at preston i could see loads of folk across the way at that pub the mad ferret but just couldnt bring myself to go other ,sounds really daft i know,so i just went back to my hotel on me own when really just wanted a couple of beers and a laugh.jane
-
Hello Jane, fancy going on the bus, a really good way to break the ice.
Cheers
jc
-
If its any help,I booked The Oxnoble hotel on Liverpool Road.Cost £70 for two people.I did book it in June so I don't know if its booked up or if the prices have gone up!
-
We 're in the Travel lodge in Fallowfield (Upper Brook St) which is the student area of Manc and a short bus ride down the road from the Ritz. £47 when we booked it some weeks ago
-

hello Purple - it's good to read this because , well I wouldn't say I'm shy, but I'm seriously a loner and yet bizarrely I love meeting people - It's just that it doesn't happen as naturally in our forties as it did in our twenties does it - so - good to see folk reaching out like this - it's inspiring, thanks.
Now unlike Shush and Barty I'm an utter sleazebag but I'm sure they will slap me about if i get out of order ;)
Preston was a great gig huh? I stayed in the sidelines with my not impressed with seeing NMA AGAIN YAWN GF most of the night 'till I saw some poor sod just almost crumbling under a pyramid - then i went and squeezed his shoulders a bit - in a very friendly masculine and not at all gay way ok? For all I know it was Barty - we'll find out in Manc. Look forward to meeting you all x

Hi - Been to many, many gigs on my own and when I finally decided to make an effort and try to be a bit more sociable I just wondered why I hadn’t done it years ago .... as for missing the Mad Ferrett, yes it was a good laugh, but the Grand Central is a much better venue (in my view) so just make sure you go to that one!
Btw completely off-topic but is that an old Subhumans lyric in your message box?

I remember the ‘crumbling sod’ pyramid if it's the same one – I was on the other side trying to hold it up as well ... I think it may have been Paul underneath - it all gets a bit lost in the fog of the night... good times anyway...
-
First off - Shush - thanks man, your a shining reminder of what (new) friends are for!
Dipple - and indeed anyone else needing a place to stay in Manc

Double rooms for £29 right now - 40 minute walk from the central but if a few of us book there then its a cheap shared taxi and no sobering walk.
NickyG - Man it was this huge MOFO of a beast with a face that was just saying 'I don't want boots digging into my shoulders no more. No More!' And standing like a soldier just taking the weight - respect to whoever that was x

Ah.... that sounds familiar ;D
-
i am really looking forward to manchester, too now
-
Just getting back to the hotel room thing, I crumbled and booked a rather expensive Premier Inn nearby, just so I can guarantee having somewhere to lay my head, but it's a room I can cancel without paying just as long as I do it 24 hours in advance if something cheaper comes along... just an idea if any of you are in a bit of a panic about having somewhere to stay and don't mind paying big bucks if you can't find a bargain? It was PI Manchester Central, £79 if you're interested... keep me posted about cheaper options.
Now, it seems that there are a few people, myself included, intent on meeting up with like-minded folk before the Ritz gig, some of whom seem to be a bit new to the NMA scene... any ideas on how we can all recognise each other? I'm gonna be there with my bezzie mate (also a die-hard NMA-er) but I'd be nice to hook up with people I only know through their forum names ... ideas?
-
Well, I'm not wearing a T-shirt with Shush on it again. Last time I walked into a room, everyone stayed quiet till I left ::)
-
wearing an new model army t shirt wont help as everyone ,will be wearing them,so everybody would know each other you could tie something red or another bright colour round your wrist ,it would have to big enough to notice though.Money on it though il be the only person stood on street corner withsomething red tied round my wrist. :D ;Djane

i am completely computer illiterate cant even get the hang of doing simple stuff :-[jane

Agreed, 16th of Nov is going to be a sea of NMA T-shirts on the pubs around Oxford Road... we've already had people posting about how they are uncomfortable about approaching people they don't know... to be honest, I'm one of them! I only know NMA fans within my very small immediate circle of friends / NMA fans, despite having much communication with people of this forum (Hi, Shush!)...
Would it help if I create a FB page dedicated to a meet on the 16th? Yes, we've all seen the FB debate, but if it would help, why not?
Opinions, people?

Sounds like a good idea to me Master Rayce. If you get good response and arrange something, you can let us none facbookers know about it here ;)
-
same goes ,idont have facebook, and never will.jane
-
Us non-Facebookers need to describe ourselves then.....me, I'm 6' tall, tattooed, grey-haired and will be wearing black jeans and an NMA top. Instantly recognisable amongst the masses then ;D ;D
-
To spot me, look for someone six foot, slim, handsome, grey haired with NMA tats on the right arm.
I'll be stood next to him ;D
-
actually id be quite easy to recognise ,my hair is 19 different shades of blue, purple and green ;) ;)
-
Sounds like I will have to look out for a Dulux colour chart ;D
-

I'll treat you to a few pints now mate!!
-
Ha Ha! Well, I'm a little bit over six-foot, little bit grey around the sides, short-ish hair, going a bit squishy around the middle... oh, it's no use, we need a proper way for us all to meet, especially in view of the fact that some of us, me included, are a little bit nervous about approaching strangers...
Never mind, we've got until November to sort it out... I'll do the FB thing, but any other ideas are welcome...
-

This might go horribly wrong but I will try anyway - Preston pyramid pic:-

NB - As I understand it, if someone links to a band page on FB, you can see the link without being logged in. If you link to a member's page then I think you do have to be logged in (which is why other links in the forum may work but this one may not).
-
Fuckit lad, tell me wot u r wearing, in advance, Ill come and giv u a big man hug !!!, if I get the wrong bloke, ---so wot !!!!
-
Sounds like I will have to look out for a Dulux colour chart ;D
but only the cool section ;)
-
Re. Accomadation. ... Sachas on Sackville st. Is under £50 usually & The Brittania hotel if booked through a deal finder can be under £50. Also The Mitre hotel/bar near Hard Rock Cafe looks nice and is only £29 I think although I've not stayed there before....
-
Managed to get booked into the Best Western, Willow Bank which is just under 4 miles from the Ritz. £62.10 for a double (cheaper than the singles). Same price for a twin room.
-
Plenty of buses all through the night on that route Barty...and they stop virtually outside Grand Central!

You've made a great day even better mate! Looking forward to the after show. If last year's there was anything to go by, we're in for another treat. Thanks for sorting it mate, as ever. Barty

New here this is my first post...
Last saw the band when Thunder & Consolation came out at Manchester University Student Union Bar. Have tickets to see them at The Ritz in Manchester on 16th November and really looking forward to it.
Glad to hear I won't be the oldest person there ::)
-
Welcome to the Forum mate - you won't be disappointed in Manchester. See you there!
-
I was at that T&C gig in Manchester too! Come over to the After Show in the Grand Central from midnight and say hello. I'm the one playing the music.
