New Model Army, have announced the title of their hotly anticipated 12th Studio album. The self-produced set was finished earlier this year in Los Angeles with Joe Barresi mixing, (Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool.) The record marks a major evolution in their sound.
Entitled “Between Dog and Wolf” the album is filled with multi-layered drums and atmospheric musical textures while sacrificing none of the band’s famous passion and song-writing skills. The album is scheduled for release in September.
Says founder, lead Singer and main songwriter Justin Sullivan:
“After a series of purist ‘rock-band-in-a-room’ albums over the last eight years, we felt it was time to do something a bit different and sonically this is the best album we’ve ever made. The title comes from a medieval French expression for dusk – when it’s hard to distinguish between dog and wolf, friend or foe. That sense of contradiction represents the band very well and there’s also something of this sense of transformation in the album”.
A feature-film documentary on the history of the band directed by Royal Television Society Award winning Director Matt Reid, which has been over 3 years in the making, is in the final stages of editing for release in September, coinciding with the album.
The album is a testament to the spirit of rebirth that has grown since the fire which destroyed the studio, and the theft of much the band’s remaining equipment in 2011. To celebrate it’s release the band are proud to announce their biggest tour since the 30th anniversary shows.
Says Justin Sullivan: “It’s always good to be back on the road – and the current atmosphere in the band is the most hungry and upbeat that I can remember. We’re really looking forward to this.”

'Between dog and wolf' first time i heard this expression was in the C. Collard 's movie called Les Nuits Fauves. By the way , in this film we can hear a NMA's song Purity :)
Nice album's title, i'm wondering how will be the design of the cd now..

Wow, Stephanie I remember that film! I loved it, but you can't find it on DVD and it never shows up on any of the film channels. Haven't seen it in probably twenty years, you got any idea on where I can get hold of it?
As for the new album title... hmmm, not sure, sounds like something The Cult would come up with during a particuarly coked-up moment but I'm sure it will make sense once we've all got the album spinning in our CD players!

I'm sure the artwork will be something very unique, beautiful and will spawn many tattoos :)
But hey my guess on the cover artwork is, and I no doubt will be completely wrong (ask my wife), in the cave painting style ala the chamber of the lions in Chauvet Cave. Would be fun!

That's a mouthful. I'm looking forward to it, but am really looking forward to Part 2 of the tour. The Americas, eh? And I haven't been to Tokyo in years, would give it a thought if NMA played a gig there.

Holy crap... a great film (if I remember it right) but I ain't paying that. Why can't a critically acclaimed film be made easily available?
Might be time to investigate, shall we say, 'alternative means'...
But we're getting off topic. Back to the original point...

Purity is not on the Soundtrack, but in the movie.

really looking forward to the new lp gents, and just as much so this new sound for the lp has me pretty excited. ill be pre ordering this when its ready. thanx for the continued output and heres to hoping in 2014 we get too see some NMA shows in Chicago again.

I Like the tittle of the New Album. ;D It conjures some interesting images in my Head about How the music is going to be .
