Title: It's strange that a date announced (here) today is already sold out.
Post by: Amandistan on January 24, 2015, 01:23:02 AM
I just look at the front NMA page and see new festival dates. Then I see some sort of open air festival that is already sold out?  I found it very strange and wondered " how on earth is this?".

Does anyone else find this strange?
It's a bit like teasing us." Look a new date! and oh, yeah, you can't go. but it's fun shoving it in your face anyway  :D

I am not referring to being teased by the band but the festival itself. It was entirely meant as a joke too.

It wasn't my type of festival lineup anyway.

Its Wacken, the Biggest Metal festival in the World, tickets will have sold out before the final band line up was even confirmed. NMA being confirmed in December according to Wackens site.
Hope the band pick up a lot more new fans and its good to see them playing a Punk Festival a Hippy Festival and a Metal Festival, how many other bands would even contemplate doing that. :)

Wacken... No wonder the tix are sold. What I know, most of the metal heads in Finland tend go there (and probably from everywhere around the world).  :)

But NMA is not metal. Is it?   I get the hippy and punk festivals.

That explains it then.

It's uncommon that big events get sold out before most people get a chance at getting those same tickets... there was a programme on UK TV a couple of years that showed how the majority of tickets go straight to those resale websites, at a massive markup... be interested how much of that money goes back to the bands in question...

Example.  When The Who toured their masterpiece 'Quadrophenia' (don't ask me, Justin will agree with you  ;) ) a couple of years back, it was playing in huge arenas, I was in the old I/net at 9am (as advertised) and by 9.08am, the whole ******* tour was sold out.  Purely by luck I got a couple of good tickets.... but by 10am, there were literally thousands of tickets available via those bastard websites for a great big markup...

It's corrupt as **** and pisses on the true fans (who've been following these bands for years) in favour of moneyed people who just wanna go to the next 'big show' so they can boast about it to their friends..   >:(

Well said that Ray. My friend just said he saw someone was selling a ticket there for 250$.

Bollocks.  >:(
