Many of you have been jumping all over me. Some of you have even been calling me unspeakable things. Am I a "penis"? No. But I am certainly opinionated and gruff. It is who I am, I can not really change that, but I can offer an apology to the good people at this board who have been bothered by my boorish behavior.
I apologize. I am sorry.
Two things in explanation:
1. I grew up in a family of boxers. I am/was an amatuer boxer; father, uncles, brothers...we all boxed. Loved the sport. Loved the aggressive nature of the whole thing. It is in me. I often view people as opponents. Right or wrong that is in my nature.
2. I am a New Yorker. Yes, the stereotypes of overly aggressive, pushy, opinionated, argumentative New Yorkers is true in many of us. We see ourselves as living in the capital of the Universe, we see ourselves as more knowledgeable, more cultured, more sophisticated, more tough, in short, better, than anyone else on planet Earth. Right or wrong, that is how many New Yorkers grow up.
So the cocktail of me being a boxer from NYC can be poisonous to some. In all honesty I am opinionated and aggressive with everyone I know - family and friends. And here's the thing -- they are that way to me. It is just the way it is. If you have ever seen the old American TV show "All In The Family," you can clearly see how New Yorkers behave within their families and amongst neighbors. Shouting, yelling, fighting...but all without malice. Just loud and aggressive and opinionated with absolutely no harm intended behind any of it.
Anyway, too old to get back in the ring so I now and then use my voice as my fists. I see this has upset many good people here. For that I am sorry.
One thing in my defense, though I have been attacked and called some terrible things here (even the f-word has been thrown at me) I never once did that to others here. Worst I went was I said that people who do not like John Lennon "have no brains." Clearly that is an "insult" meant in jest. I never use curse words, I never do name-calling.
Once again, I do sincerely apologize for my behavior here at this board. Some good people here, older and wiser than one finds at other music boards. I may seem dismissive of your ideas, but in actuality I do take them all in. I do value your thoughts. I apologize for the way I have expressed mine.

Hi Space,
Well that was a surprise
I accept your apology, I just hope that you mean it and don't start more threads in the same manner as your previous ones.
As for your explanation that once being a boxer and a native of New York as an excuse for your behaviour i find strange but if that's the reason well so be it.
Cheers

I don't know what happened between you and other members you had a disagreement with. That's between you and them.
Let me start by saying that I am a New Yorker also and as much as New Yorkers like to voice their views and can at times what seems to be loud and Brash not all of us are like that. I like to give my views too but Always with Respect to others and their views on this board.
I guess you can say I am a Old timer here as I joined this board way back in Sept 2000 and even thou it says I registered in 2007 I have been here thru a few Board crashes ;D so I have read many views here.
I don't know how many times you have seen the band play their New York shows I am a late bloomer in the sense that my 1st NMA was in 2006 at Southpaws and every time they came back here I tried not to miss a show. I have seen 5 shows here since and I was at the 30th anniversary shows in Brooklyn. Unlike other boards that I am a member of I have met quite a few people who post on these boards at the NY shows some of the nicest coolest people I have met and they are from all over the World and the people who travel from Europe and come here to the shows I have had some great times with them enjoying the music Having a few drinks and just chilling with them . I guess that's why we call ourselves a family we Love the Band and the music and what the message they are saying with the music.
I don't want to make this to long but let me say that I have never had any problems with any member we may disagree with something but that's OK no one will think any less of you if you don't agree with them. we go on to the next topic or subject. I mean we all love the band that's why we joined this Forum. We all wants Best for the band in terms of success They seem to be doing just fine and after all the things both good and Bad that has happened the Band keeps putting out good music and I hope they continue to do so.
BTW If you have been to any of the New York shows in the recent I am easy to recognize As I am a African American and one of the few who will be at the shows because I love the music and I get the message they are saying with it. That's what I love about New York You get every nationality in the world here and we just come and groove to the music. This is a good board one of the best I have been on that's why I am still here. 8)

I hope I haven't dropped into a parallel universe or fallen for the ultimate setup but on the assumption I haven't.
Fair play to you Space and for my part, for what it's worth (i.e. no more or no less than anyone else) I welcome and am glad to see an apology.
We all come from different places and all have different ways of expressing ourselves which can be read in a different way to the intention behind typing those words. We can all learn to understand each other if we take a bit of time to breathe before hitting post. I fully admit I am just as liable to get spiky and uptight as the next person. But here we can tell each other that something came across a bit too strong or unclear without it all kicking off, likewise disagreement is totally fine and nobody gets shirty with each other because of it.
I hope we can all enjoy many heartfelt and friendly discussions - straight on for the days ahead.

Space...
Those are the words I've been waiting to hear from you. I don't say that in a big, arrogant or pious way. I don't think I'm better than you or any such bullshit. But let's face it, things were said in both directions that were rather unpleasant... and (just to say it one last time) much of them came from you during, shall we call them, 'the early days'... and I'm no ******* better, I went off like a ******* asshole...
I'm not gonna repeat that bullshit, it's over and gone if we all want it to be. Quite embarrassed by how I reacted, quite frankly.
Your recent messages... excellent, well written, intelligent, truly full of NMA love and nicely spelt (sorry, I'm a bit weird when it comes to stuff like that last thing ;D )
I suspect, though, that the stuff that went before is tainting the memory of the new stuff that you have previously said is 'tongue in cheek'... people are regarding a joke as something akin to those personal messages... :(
I dunno. It's a fresh slate for me and you, pal, if you want it to be. No pressure and no judgement. Tell me that I'm a prick if you want, I've been unpleasant to you. And, BTW, get onto the 'everything else' thread sometime... see what you make of the stuff there... ;)

Accepted
On other forums I seem to piss people off without even trying as well. Especially on FB.

OK Space, good for you. I hope it works out well :)
Just one thing I would like to pick up on. the jibe about "12 people in a bar in Leipzig". It is true the band regularly play to what in the wider music industry may be considered a small crowd, 1000 - 2000 or so. That said, it has to be remembered that this band tours a lot. Throughout the year, up and down this country and across Europe. Us lucky residents of the UK get the chance to see the band many times throughout the year and can pick and choose, this has an effect of the size of the crowd and the venue to be booked. Christmas just gone, the band put on a mini tour that was a bit different and therefore attracted more interest. One of the venues with a 2500 capacity soon sold out and left many looking for spare tickets.
We have an arena in the middle of the country, the N.E.C. in Birmingham with a 16000 capacity. If the band chose to go against the grain and announce at the end of this year that the only UK gig they were going to do in 2016 was the N.E.C., I would not be surprised at all if that were to sell out.
I suppose what I am saying is, the annual ticket sales for the band if known would probably surprise you and would not really reflect the size of venues the band regularly plays in.
Does anyone know what an average ticket sale year total is for the band ?

I can feel you there. I probably should go to anger management as well. If the internet was your outlet, I also have more understanding of what it might be like.
It's easy to have anger issues in a country so competitive as America.

Folks, I am NOT in some Anger Management rehab center in Malibu, California!
I am FREEZING in one degree weather in New York City while my countrymen in Malibu California are lounging on the beach. So, yes, I am ANGRY!!!

Good to see everybody playing happy families again!!
Must admit I didn't like the negative vibe I witnessed on the board for a while, but then again we do live on an angry planet.
Lets get back to a NMA fan based forum, you know, a forum where people can disagree without being horrible to one another...a proper "FAMILY". I love being a NMA fan & what that means.

Yes Space, it is weird out here in California ... a record 82oF on Saturday in the Bay Area! (about 28oC). Just wrong for February!

Sorry, dude, missed the joke...
You do get extreme temperatures over in NYC, don't you? Last time I was there, it was so hot and muggy I could barely breathe... good luck with that, anyway...
