Title: 2015 Formula One Season Starts Tonight!
Post by: Space on March 14, 2015, 09:05:00 PM
Unlike most Americans, I have heard of a band called New Model Army and follow Formula One racing.

While New Model Army seems to have gotten better with age, sadly, Formula One is getting worse. Yes, I will watch the races, but also yes I will be bored to tears. The sport is still glamorous and glitzy and filled with drama...it's just that the actual sport, you know, the racing on the track, is dull as hell.

Any other F1 followers? Or do you prefer the slam bang rock 'em sock 'em racing of NASCAR?

Formula 1 is now more of a procession in my eyes

Prefer the BTCC (British Touring Car Championships) but most of all the BSSO (British Scooter Sport Organisation) the only way to watch the latter is by turning up at a racetrack

The team I run in this Championship are the current British Champions and we also got the runners up spot and the 4th and 5th places :) :)

F1 can certainly get boring, only the battle between the Mercs kept it interesting last season. I do appreciate the skill and talent that the drivers have. I also think its good for technology advancement in road cars as is the formula E series.
As for nascar no sorry not for me, cars going round a circle constantly, the btcc is excellent especially the main race, the reverse grid for the third race is a excellent idea.
And for 2 wheels love watching the Moto GP, Marc and the other Pol ( hey there isnt many of us) are my favourites as well as Valentino. I also like watching the British super bike and of course the Isle of Man TT

Love the TT, I will go and watch it one year.

Would love Guy Martin to win it but somehow I don't think he ever will.

What I love about him is that he's down to earth and still loves his day job as a truck mechanic

At the end of the day he's bloody good at what is essentially his hobby so cannot dedicate his whole life to racing say like the Dunlop brothers, John McGuinness and the other professionals.

He lives fairly local to me and turns up at our VW meetings in his tricked out Volvo Amazon and just has a chat, no airs and graces, no I'm better than you attitude, just a normal bloke enjoying what he does

Big F1 fan, loved last year, a bit disappointed with the first race of 2015 but still keen to see how it develops.

Yeah, I'm a fan of F1. Have been following it avidly since somewhere around 1980. I l like a whole lot of other motorsport too. Certainly wouldn't dismiss NASCAR as cars going round in circles, as they also race on road circuits. Also, I personally would love to be standing near the fence when a whole pack of them comes by at about 200mph on one of the big 2 mile ovals. That would be an unbelievable sound. I'm into Touring cars, junior single seater categories, classic car racing, MotoGP, Speedway, rallying, all sorts. Off to Lydden Hill in May for World Rallycross (now that is fun !!)

Agree with you Red about Guy Martin. He's a fabulous bloke. Did you see his recent series where he was in India?. I'm also thinking he may never win a TT now unfortunately, but I hope he keeps trying for a few more years. It would be so brilliant if he did finally get one.
