Twenty years in the making...OUT TODAY!
OK, folks, it is here, it is done, it is now out for release! My three song NMA CD E.P.
I've worked hard on it. I designed the album artwork, provided my lyrics on the back cover, and, of course, it has all the Space hits you want to hear:
- my now classic version of "Inheritance" with my guitar on it,
- "Caslen" featuring my lyrics,
- and I've even included a Bonus Track, my re-working of a classic New Model Army tune
Taking orders now. Price will be sixty dollars -- I figure thirty dollars for each song is a fair deal (plus I am giving you a free bonus song).
(I suggest you buy two: one to play and one to save unopened as a future investment.)
Here's a look at the front and back covers; great work all done by Space:

"New Model Army...& Nobody Else But Space"
I have to say, it is a classic E.P. Three brilliant tunes in a spectacular package.
They won't last long. Get them while you can.

Didn't you feature heavy in the latest Louis Theroux documentary space? - by reason of insanity

Good one Space, but the joke is wearing a bit thin now ! Anyway, I thought you had zero interest in computers and uploading stuff etc ? You must know a bit to put these images together.

Joke wearing thin? There's some new material in there. I'm not like AC/DC and just churn out the same stuff over and over again. No, I'm more like The Beatles, something new with each release.
As far as my computer skills, come on, that was all done on basic Windows Paint. My computer skills are nil, the polar opposite of my musical skills and wit.

I thought we're in a Motley Crue forum...

;D ;D ;D ;D
Yeah good one Space - thing is though fella, April Fools Day was yesterday.
Funny, I didn't have you down as the sort of bloke who is late, I thought you would be more the premature type.

;D ;D ;D ;D

Uhh, Anna, I assumed you people in Britain know about time zones. I guess I was wrong about that. My post was perfectly timed for April Fools, my time zone.
Remember, Anna, New York City is the center of the universe. Our time zone is the one that matters. When it is April Fools Day here in New York, that's when it is April Fools for everybody else. When the ball drops in Times Square on New Year's Eve, that's when the new year starts for everybody else. When it rains here in New York, that's when everybody else should take out their umbrellas.
My post was a fantastic April Fools Day post. Pity that no one else here at this site even attempted one. Well, just another case of New York showing the world how to do things.
-
To my eternal shame... I laughed.
-
Sorry Dude - It didn't occur to me to consider how far behind the English you Yanks are :-* Perhaps I've got a bit of New York blood in me because I've always thought I was the centre of the Universe ;D ;D
Fair point about nobody else bothering to have a laugh: didn't you know we're all miserable here !
:-*

Personally, from my multiple US visits, I find Chicago to be a far finer city... but each to their own. That's my opinion, not a 'fact'...

When the NMA shop is going to have this new release add to their products for purchase? I can't see it there.
Wish you all a good April.
-
didn't you know we're all miserable here !
I feel for you over there. The last great thing Britain has produced was in 1985...New Model Army's "No Rest For The Wicked." That's now over thirty years of nothing but Mr. Bean, Susan Boyle, your national football team, J.K. Rowling books... Your days of Lord Nelson, The Beatles, and Diana Rigg are looooong gone. I honestly do sympathize.

No, no, won't be on the NMA shop page. The deal I have worked out is that my CD will be sold out of Justin Sullivan's own garage.

Sympathize? Mate. you wanna try ******* living here ;D
Mind you, could be a lot worse - I could live over there in the promised land. And if I was to start listing all the embarrassing non-entity shite that the US has inflicted on the world then we'd be here all bleeding night. Plus at least we had a Lord Nelson ;D
:-*

No, no, no, you don't want to get into a "mine's bigger" contest with the U.S. of A. We'd easily win. And don't forget we have nukes over here and we still have a couple of Bushes who have yet to take the office of President.
Lord Nelson? Uhh, we have a Rogers Nelson. Know who that is? His first name is Prince. Our little guy from Minneapolis who parties like its 1999 sure did more for the good of the world than your Lord Nelosn.
-
Um, I can think of another UK person called Nelson who you might enjoy... ;)
-
, you don't want to get into a "mine's bigger" contest
Quite right Honey - I really wouldn't win that one ;D
More Bushes in the White House? In some ways I can only approve of this idea but it hasn't really turned out very well the last 2 times you tried it.
As for that little purple pixie well................ probably depends on angles of vision.
;D
And as Ray just pointed out - our Nelson is bigger than yours :P
-
Sorry, that`s too much for me >:(
I`m hungry (my problem not having lunch or dinner today), but why should I feed a troll? Or do I miss something because of needing a simple slide of bread?
Don`t ask me any more stupid questions ....

Woah. Someone made a New York?? Whats was wrong with the old one?? Cant abide these invented towns. Bloody planners.

It would appear so. Now which one of you took my crayons?? ;D

I really do wish that I still had it. I really do. Not for my pleasure, but for yours and everyone else at this site.
You just have to take my word for it on this: my version of "Inheritance" in which I added my guitar playing over the original Sullivan/Heaton tune is one of the best songs I've ever heard. It is a sooo much better than the New Model Army version. And look, I'll admit the original is a good song. It's just that my guitar playing, production skill, and songwriting craft turned the good Sullivan/Heaton song into something brilliant.
But, alas, I can't find it so now it is just a lost treasure. Like an unfound Shakespeare play, a Michelangelo sculpture that has crumbled, a Picasso taken and lost by the Nazis, my version of "Inheritance" is up there with those.
-
A unicorn's dung is also mythical ;)

Tell me Space, have you ever visited the planet Earth ?

I'm not from either, but I'll take New York over Chicago any day.

Woah. Someone made a New York?? Whats was wrong with the old one?? Cant abide these invented towns. Bloody planners.
New York is so much better than the original. I always felt it could be improved upon and boy, did they do it! York was always a bit flat and lifeless, what they've done with the new one is staggering: A major cultural hub, skyscrapers and not a Viking center in sight. A vast improvement :)

I'm sorry but if there aren't the remnants of a wall encircling this "New" Jorvik and a chocolate factory, then a stock exchange just doesn't do it for me ;D
-
But let's imagine: in a situation if there was another version of the songs made by some fan of New Model Army; it should get noticed in a list of cover songs. Maybe you can remember some of them: Gaijin collected a list of covers (http://board.newmodelarmy.org/index.php?topic=8160.msg134879#msg134879) made by other artists who are fans of NMA. They should also get noticed and updated once there are new cover songs coming in future. What is a pity, is that this was an April's fool directed on us made by a prankster. ::)
Cheers
Edit: The list seems to lack Redaka's version of Seven Times. Can't find it even in a Google anymore. Either is it removed by Redaka himself or due to copyrights? I thought it was a legal version. ???
-
Well I genuinely though that this was an April Fools joke on us (for once).
In my post I also put in a nod to the F word thread in Everything Else.
On the first night of the holiday I thought this was just a bit of good natured mickey taking - not a serious political debate.
I parked the wordy serious part of myself somewhere at the end of my first beer after a very intense week at work. Obviously that was my mistake.
Note To Self: If on forum - don't do trite, don't do positive, wear sackcloth

Is there anyway you could re-record it, just for us? You could even try it with without the guitar parts!!! as an experiment? It might be interesting, like Prince not putting a bass line on When doves cry in his heyday, you know? Sometimes leaving space and starkness can be more powerful than filling everything in - Prince is/was the master of this!
-
like Prince not putting a bass line on When Doves Cry
I actually added a bass line to "When Doves Cry." I didn't record it, I was just playing along to the song one day, but I do remember I improved the song.

I once played a wobble board over God Save the Queen. Not only did enliven a dull song it also tipped a nod to the Commonwealth.
