Title: Any Screaming Blue Messiahs fans
Post by: szmurf on December 02, 2016, 12:35:10 AM
Just saw this:

But I must say that I miss the days when my CDs of Gun Shy and Bikini Red were worth $100 each.  Guess they're worthless now (actually they re-released those two about 5 yrs ago or so, so they've lost their shine a while ago I think).

First live band I paid to see. Riley Smith hall in the Leeds Union Building in Autumn of 85

Previously I had only been to freebies.

I'd got tickets because The Bolshoi were supposed to be Special Guests, but they didn't play, but the Messiahs, wow!

I've vaguely heard of the name, but never heard any of the music itself.

Post a couple of recommendations, always up for getting into a fresh band!

Wild Blue Yonder - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X_Z__T19lg
Sweet Water Pools - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR5hFONQfqg
Twin Cadillac Valentine - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeGtlaizSzg
Waltz - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLxEWbzXqkU  - A very sweet song.

They also do a great cover of Hank's You're Gonna Change.

Pol - The CD was just coming around when these two albums were coming out and were about twice the cost of vinyl.  I guess they thought they couldn't sell too many of them and only produced a handful of each.  In the early 2000's you'd have to pay big bucks on EBay to get either one of them.  I think Gun Shy was around $100 and Bikini Red was $85.  I made illegal copies of mine and gave them to a few people on some board back then.

Anyway - for $50 bucks you get Good and Gone, Gun Shy, Bikini Red, and Totally Religious, plus all the b-sides and some live stuff.  Can't beat that.  Says it's remastered, so we'll see.
