New album, September 23rd...
« on: July 18, 2013, 07:20:31 PM »
I really am starting to think that I'm the only NMA person on Facebook...  ;D

Came through a few hours ago, the 23rd of September is the official release date for the new album.

That's the good news, the bad news seems to be that the Big Documentary is now going to be 2014...

So, so excited...

 :D

Totally agree!  I have traditionally tried to get the day off when a new NMA album comes out, just so I can really get to grips with it!  I'd be in the record store first thing in the morning, back when record stores existed (which is not the case in my hometown nowadays...  the only place you can buy a CD are the supermarkets and I suspect that the new NMA album ain't gonna be there...)

Althugh I have to say, if you order it through the NMA website, you usually get it a few days before the official release date, so I wouldn't book that day off just yet...

Where did you find all this out Master Ray? I am really going to have to cave in and join facefuck?

Nice to have an exact date to look forward to. Shame about the film delay, but it was always said, it will be ready when its ready, quality, not dead line important. At least it keeps things going on for next year.

record stores, I remember them. Nottingham used to be heaving with record shops. We had a good large Virgin mega store, but for people with a wider taste in music, for all your alternative, punk, rock, etc needs, Nottingham had Selectadisc shop, actually a couple of shops a few doors apart. It used to always been packed out on Saturdays, and usually when you went in, you would see people who you knew.  The walls of the store were always plastered in up coming gig posters for Rock City. Starting to get emotional thinking about it now :'(

Hey, Shush!  It truly seems that brand new NMA info comes through on FB well before it appears on the official NMA page... whats up with that?  C'mon, NMA techno-bods, sort it out!   ;)

For the record, I'm not a huge fan of Facebook, but its a useful tool for keeping in touch with folks you used to work with or be friends with.  Just don't give out too much personal info.

As you know, I brought up the facefuck V forum thing before. I agree, it is a shame the forum which is solely dedicated to NMA is lagging behind.

I have always resisted joining facefuck for what you hinted on, -personal info being given. I have a mega rare Surname, if I had to give it out, you would soon be able to track me down if you wanted to, so I prefer not to.

To stay ahead of facefuck, I think the forum should have a blog directly from the band itself. Even trivia we would fine entertaining. Stuff like, how they thought  a gig went, funny stories, etc. Are they looking forward to the show in Italy next week, etc.

I know it would be just adding to there clearly large work load, but more comments here from the band would be nice to see, and bolster up the flagging forum.

Did they mention a US release?  I'd like to buy a copy from my local record shop (yes they do still exist).
Course I'll prob pick up the vinyl or deluxe version from the Shop.  I know this belongs on another thread, but:

You can't have too many copies of a NMA record.

Its on this site but most People just go straight to the Forum page.

We are excited to announce the release of our much heralded new album “Between Dog and Wolf” on September 23rd on Attack Attack Records via a new deal with Essential Music and Marketing in UK and Ireland and earMUSIC in the rest of the world. Self-produced and finished earlier this year in Los Angeles with Joe Barresi mixing (Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool) the record marks a major evolution in our sound.

Entitled “Between Dog and Wolf”, the album is filled with multi-layered drums and atmospheric musical textures, sacrificing none of the passion or song-writing skills. It is also the first to feature 26 year old new bass player and multi instrumentalist Ceri Monger.

Justin: “We were always planning to do something a bit different with this album, and it has turned out much more and much better than we could have imagined. Sonically this is the best album we’ve ever made, whilst creatively it has opened lots of new doors. The title comes from a medieval French expression for dusk – when it’s hard to distinguish between dog and wolf, friend or foe. That sense of contradiction represents the band very well and there’s something of this sense of transformation in the album. It has been a stormy four years since the release of the last album. With the sudden death of our manager, the loss of our studio in the fire, subsequent theft of remaining equipment and our old bass player Nelson’s departure, we in essence lost everything. We used this to make a new beginning and part of the change was effected with the arrival of Ceri and the refreshing energy and musical influences he brought. We are very excited about the new album and what the future holds for the band.”

Ceri: “I have loved New Model Army’s music for many years and am chuffed to be a part of this incredible album. I think the record is pretty unique and I look forward to hearing what people think when they hear it.”

The album’s stunning artwork is based around a painting by Joolz: “I always hear the albums being created from the first acoustic strum onwards and it quickly became obvious that this album was going to be different in sound from previous records. Early on Justin saw some artwork I had designed originally for a tattoo client of mine, an image of Herne the Hunter and the Herlathing, and the primitive tribal paganism of the picture really symbolised to him the heavy pounding drum rhythms and passions that are at the heart of this album.”

The Full Tracklisting for the album is:
 Horsemen
 March In September
 Seven Times
 Did You make it Safe
 I Need More Time
 Pull The Sun
 Lean Back and Fall
 Knievel
 Storm Clouds
 Between Dog and Wolf
 Qasr El Nil Bridge
 Tomorrow Came
 Summer Moors
 Ghosts

The feature-film documentary on the history of the band directed by Royal Television Society Award winning Director Matt Reid, which has been over 4 years in the making, is currently in the final stages of editing and is set for a release now in early 2014.

To celebrate the release of "Between Dog And Wolf" the band are proud to announce their biggest tour since the 30th anniversary shows. Justin: “It’s always good to be back on the road – and the current atmosphere in the band is the most hungry and upbeat that I can remember. We’re really looking forward to this.”

Don't forget that there's a special-edition NMA magazine coming too!

It's a good time to be a fan.

Guilty as charged, thanks for pointing it out Markxe. Have to say, I don't look at the main page that often, I have the Forum on my tool bar, and go straight to it rather than going through the main site link.
