Space (Live Mini LP)
« on: April 13, 2014, 03:16:34 PM »
A brief history of Space: Space was released as a single in June 1991. It was used to promote the compilation album 'Raw Melody Men' released at the same time.

It was released on various formats (Tape, 7", 10", 12" and CD) and offered 7 bsides spread across them. This is worth mentioning because none of these tracks appear on "Raw Melody Men'.

Together they are:

225 (Live) - CD
Ambition (Live) - CD
No Rest (Live) - 12"
Stupid Questions - Reggae Version (Live) - 12"
Family Life (Live) - 7"
Bury the Hatchet (Live) - 10"
Stupid Questions (Live) - 10"

Quite the tally - it's rather like having an opening set by the band as there are a few acoustic numbers included!

Oddly, there was no video to promote this.

Shit, that was nearly 23 years ago?   :o

I only had the 12 inch. Loved the reggae version of Stupid Questions.  Be nice to have all of those tracks on a single CD.  Or played live in that order at some venue like, I dunno, Warrington Parr Hall...?   ;)

I live in hope...

It was a while ago, yes.

I thought that I had collected all the songs by now, having only recently picked up the 12". Previously I'd gotten the 10" and subsequently the CD single. It's the humble 7" bside that I hadn't considered.

As I'm currently in the process of pulling all the formats into one database, I'm compiling 'playlists' for my iTunes, and Space stood out as the most diverse release.

The second and third place honours go to Wonderful Way To Go and Brave New World respectively. All 3 singles have 8 tracks - however these have some repetition due to there being multiple versions of their title track.

I just realized that the US BD3 EP should be included. However, it required a single purchase, not as many as those singles I mention above.
