Well - no
Dunno why because I was quite excited about it coming out but I think it might be because I will have to try and find a stream for the old series before trying to understand the new one. Also from what I gather (although I have steered away from any full on reviews) it ain't that good. Be honest with me MR (taking off yer fanboy head for a moment) is it worth it?
My fanboy head in on good and proper. But I can appreciate why some people aren't that keen. It's SO different to the old series. It's proper full-on surreal and head-mashing, right from the off. Hardcore David Lynch. Remember that scene early on in the original series with Cooper and the backward talking dwarf fella? That's Coronation Street compared to the new series.
Look, there was a pretty-much stand-alone episode this week, no spoilers as it mostly doesn't refer to the previous 7 episodes, but it can be described like this...
Man shoots man.
Interdimensional tramps save man.
Nine Inch Nails perform a song for no reason whatsoever.
The first nuclear test ruptures the barriers between worlds, letting in forces of terrifying evil, as well as incomprehensible avatars of goodness.
Sooty tramps invade 1950s America, and pave the way for an invasive bug frog hybrid to possess a teenage girl.
and there were even odder moments in previous episodes...

But... it's so compelling (in my eyes anyway...) old characters keep showing up out of the blue, Kyle McLaughlin is playing three different characters (all of whom might be Special Agent Dale Cooper, somehow or other) and is great as all of them, many scenes seem to be irrelevant but have importance in later episodes... it's the most brain-twisting show I've ever seen. Probably 9 / 10 folks who watched it have probably given up by now, but the 1 / 10 are loving it.
Putting it simply, how did you feel about how weird the 'Fire Walk With Me' film was. Multiply that by 100. Still want to watch?

Thank God I don't smoke weed anymore. If I still imbibed and watched this show I don't think I'd recover.
