hey Justin, come talk about your amazing new song Legend for a minute

i've checked every interview i could find and haven't been able to find anything

whenever i listen to new albums by bands i love, i never check the lyrics until i've absorbed the vibes first, but as soon as i heard "Tyson fight", i grabbed the booklet

the lyrics seem to be admiration, awe and dismay

i sent the song to several people with the comment "my favorite singer-songwriter of all time wrote a song about my favorite rapper of all time"

i have some questions i hope you might answer:

when did you first learn of Tupac and what was you first exposure to his music?

what in particular inspired the Pac reference in BD3?

when did you write Legend and what inspired you to write it?

do you have a favorite 2Pac song and/or album?


p.s. i just wanted to say, i talked to you one time in Orange County back in 2005, i said you were "the coolest dude on the planet", you quickly guffawed like "yeah right", but i meant it then and i mean it now dude, you're the coolest dude on the planet to me, thanks for everything!

* - actually, has he EVER posted on here?  I have vague memories that it happened a couple of times, many years ago... perhaps a finer mind than mine can clarify?

Ref: Sullivan posting on the board...The only time I can remember him posting was to apologise for a remark he made the night before on stage at the Electric Brixton gig about the glitter balls hanging off the ceiling from the gay night..he said something about "Normal people" not liking them or some such....anyhow a long time ago and my memory is hazy and he was super apologetic....awesome to have you back and kicking this board up again by the way Master ray!

I agree with you 100% that the song is incredible though Paul and some insight into the lyrics would be much appreciated...I'm still not totally into the bass digital delay from a musical perspective but it has grown on me somewhat...the song is the album highlight though along with coming or going.

It's a superb song, indeed, both for the music and the lyrics, it sounds epic and sad at the same time, for sure it's an highlight of the album and maybe the best song on it. The others very good songs for me are "First summer after", "Cold wind", "If i am still me", "Idumea" and "I did nothing wrong".

Yeah, doing my best, I can't promise I'll be spending a few hours per night like I used to do (i AM trying to live in the real world a bit more these days) but let's give it a go...
