Oh Guillaume, thank you. I would have said 'Summertime Rolls', but mentioning my love of that song to people in the past has caused people to look at me as though I have two heads. Definitely my fave from "Nothing's Shocking". There was a period in my life when on a Saturday, aged 19, I would play both of the two classic "Janes" albums before setting off into the Nottingham evening for dancing and drinking. My dad used to add  an accompaniment,, BANG BANG BANG, "TURN IT BLOODY DOWN"
The longer this century goes on, the more I feel I belong in the last one.

Often when listening to NMA songs, I think, 'This would be good as background music in a film,' and Rainy Night (yes, 65, thank you, Guillaume) is a prime example. As I feel sure M/R would agree, it would suit parts of "Dead Man's Shoes" quite well.

What do you think of Jane's Addiction's 21st century albums? Reading these words here makes me want to try their latest albums again, even though at the time I was a little disappointed by "Strays" for example, I didn't find the madness, spontaneity and freshness of their first two albums (and their first live album). On the other hand, I liked Perry's other band, Porno for Pyros, especially the album "Good God's Urge", very good.

I've often thought about it these last years, I would love to hear NMA in a movie (or a TV series) because their music with its atmospheric, tense, dramatic, descriptive side can be very cinematic... I imagine beautiful images of beautiful movies on songs like "The price",  "Love songs", "Ballad", "225", "Green and grey", "Nothing touches", "Marrakesh", "Marry the sea", "Drummy B", "Living in the rose", "Devil's bargain", "Happy to be here", "Before i get old", "White light", "Headlights", "Someone like Jesus", "Ocean rising", "Green", "Qasr El Nil Bridge", "Summer moors", "Born feral", "Conversation", "Maps", finally a good half of their discography ha ha!

I liked the 21st-century revival of the Janes, but I think with a lot of bands that come back after a long term of absence, you always welcome it but still hold the first outing as special and difficult to match.

I was never a massive contributor to the forum and have been a way for years. Just thought I would dip my toe in, so to speak. I love a recent track from The The called Cognitive Dissidents. Being of a certain age where certain values were a given, this song looks at the world we live in today. I was a big fan of their first 2 albums but lost touch with them in the 90s. https://youtu.be/Gmwkzk2bPms?feature=shared

Suede's new album, Antidepressants.  Bloody great, loved this band since they first came out and, three decades later, they are still coming up with the goods, every bit as good as the old stuff.
... but at what point does it stop being CPR and start being like trying to reanimate a corpse?

New single – Disintegrate, very good. Do you think some of these Britpop-era bands are seeing an opportunity to come back into the public eye after the recent Oasis revival?

I suppose it is just as well that NMA never hit the big time. No sentimentality, just a consistent supply of the goods to those who appreciate it.

Playing some Pretenders. God, she has such a beautiful singing voice. Has anyone ever tried to do cover versions of Pretenders songs? It would be a big ask to sing like, or better than, her.

Some singers sing great, but then again, some singers sound great. Had a discussion with someone recently and expressed my love for Nirvana. They said Kirt couldn't sing well. Maybe so, but the way he sang sounded great, and that's all that really mattered.

Suede reformed in 2010 and did a few dates over the next couple of years before putting out a new album, the first of five excellent new albums, they were well ahead of the curve.  And they've done as many albums now since they split up.  Dare I say it, the new stuff is equally as good as the old stuff and, in many cases, better?   :o  And I say this as a huge Suede fan since they started.

And yes, Disintegrate is a fine song... my fave from the new album is the title track, Antidepressants... check it out.

I'm loving Pulp's new album, I suspect that the Oasis reformation might have spurred them on... but they were doing a few gigs before the Oasis reunion was announced so...  :-\

This makes me laugh.  Morrissey has been saying, for decades, that he would never EVER reform the Smiths.  He has such a big solo career going, why would he?  And yet when the Oasis reunion was announced and made millions in ticket sales then someone, inevitably, offered him and Johnny Marr a huge amount of cash to reform... and Johnny shot him down.  Now Mozza's all upset because Johnny doesn't want to reform the Smiths....   :D  ;D  ;D

What the heck, even if some sort of a reunion had happened it could never ever be The Smiths again now that Andy Rourke has passed away.. him and Mike Joyce were one of the finest rhyme sections in popular music ever...  8)

Loving the new album 'Ascension'  by Paradise Lost, one of my very fave metal bands ever. My personal best metal album of the year so far.

Just sad that I can't make it to the 'Wool City Rockers' gig in December, the day after the traditional Rockers gig in Nottingham, I'm seeing PL in Manchester next month, but to see them on the same bill as NMA and Terrorvision (not one of my fave bands but they had some good tunes that remind me of fun times in the 90's) would be a great night out.   :-[

I'd never heard of The Birthday Massacre before today but, on a day off, I was drinking with Dan The Postman (some of you will know that fine fella from previous NMA gigs) in Manchester, he mentioned that he'd been turned onto them by a friend and, damn, that's some pretty good stuff right there.  Sort of female-fronted goth-y metal with a touch of pop in there, some great songs.   :)
