2012 - Quiet months?
« on: January 24, 2012, 11:36:46 PM »
I appreciate there will be all sorts of problems and pressures with replacing the equipment from the fire, postponing and rebooking studio time for the new album and so on, so I kind of hate myself for asking this, but..........   well, here is a typical conversation in my house right now:

Mrs G: Where do you want to go on holiday this year?
Nic: Somewhere affordable with guaranteed sun
Mrs G: So when do you want to go?
Nic: Hmmmm
Mrs G: What do you mean – ‘hmmmm’ – wouldn’t it be better to book it early to get a good deal
Nic: Hmmmm, let’s think about it for a bit
Mrs G: Humph..... (arms fold, silent treatment commences, tension mounts etc)
... which, joking aside, leaves me feeling a bit shitty, a bit selfish, and to be honest, she has a point hasn’t she?!

So, in the interests of domestic harmony, please can anyone give me some good hints on what are likely to be the ‘quieter’ months for tours/live dates this year.  I am not asking for details about specific dates, obviously  –  all I really want to know is if we are thinking about going away in May, September, November, or whenever, which are best so I avoid missing a whole long series of dates.

I am not sure why I feel quite so hesitant for asking, but equally I am sure I can’t be the only one who goes through this... help!

I think January looks pretty quiet Nicky, not much in the books it seems! lmao  Tho' I think the Jez n Dean shows busy spell in February hints towards not much gig wise fer NMA that month aswell! =) Hope that helps?  ;D

There will be no tour in last two weeks of June and the first week of July...

I used to do that whilst I still had a wife; the holidays on my own were much better than those with the enemy. Do it!

I don't think (and hope!) that NickyG sees his wife as an enemy ...  ;)

Blimey...  NMA tours: "the weapon that they used as they tore apart the family", lol, ..... no, seriously, different people are in different situations which I well respect...

I love my wife dearly, and she is great with me going away – I just want to respect that and be considerate, that’s all  :)

I love to know too.  Planning a trip from the States is a LOT more money than a typical holiday within the country for us.

For the past few years, seeing the band WAS our vacation.  And we LOVED IT!!
Last year we had too many things that came up so we didn't even get a vacation.

We've been talking about going to see a number of our National Parks for a 2 week vacation but if NMA tour, we wouldn't be able to go.  It's one or the other.  :'(

Shame, it would have been nice to have seen those National Parks too... still, they'll no doubt be around for a while yet  ;)

Actually, one of them that we're looking at is Glacier National Park..... and they're predicting that the glaciers will all be gone by 2020.  :'(
So I think we might take our chances on this being a quiet year for NMA and going out to see this before its too late.

I'm visiting Glacier NP for the same reason in June, on my road trip from Seattle to Denver. I love US National Parks, ths 10 or so that I have visisted so far have been some of my very favourite places. Zion is my favourite, it just struck a chord with me as everything I wanted from a place of beauty.

If we're going to change the subject ... yes, Zion is wonderful but I was amazed by the beauty of the Grand Canyon!
