NEW ALBUM
« on: February 12, 2013, 09:41:20 AM »
.....that sounds good! The producer Joe Barresi worked with Kyuss, QOTSA, Melvins, Fu Manchu - quite typical for Stoner / post stoner sound and on the other hand with Isis (postrock) and Clutch! I think these bands are "classic" guitar driven bands...I was a bit confused because the NMA says : "to bring a tough edge to what is not a traditional guitar-driven rock album"....maybe confused is the wrong word, let`s say I`m freaky excited :D

I love the new song and beeing a family member for over 25years I know I will not be disappointed!

Really looking foreward to hear the new tunes!!!

Oli

P.S. Justin and Michael are lucky, it`s not that cold in LA  :P

 :D  :D  :D  :D

I can't wait for this new album. It will be a MUST to crank the volume up up to 11!

As an aside: Isis' Wavering Radiant is one of the best albums ever. And Kyuss are like gods, for me... The new album will be super intense.

And I have to ask the traditional question: will there be a vinyl release? Although at over an hour of music, it would have to be a double :)
Now there's a mouth watering prospect.....

"to bring a tough edge to what is not a traditional guitar-driven rock album"...

The new song seems to be bass driven. Maybe that's the hint. Anyway, I love that direction  ;)

I like the sound of gettin' the American blokey in to mix. Queens Of The Stone Age usually sound really good. Tho' Era Vulgaris doesn't to me. Tool are always hyper produced, I'm not a huge fan. But can't fault the production, it's the overly serious proggy vibe that leaves me cold.
I think March In september has a very Brave New World kinda feel, so maybe we'll get a very sparse, dry sound like that ep? Tho' I think it was said that most of the other new songs don't sound much like it........ Who knows apart from the 5 folks making it really? Sure it'll be a powerful slab of choonage either way......... 8)

I like the job he did on the Bad Religion and Pennywise albums he produced (he has credits for loads of other interesting records), would be very happy if a similar approach was taken to NMA.

I'm most interested in what Justin said in the interview for Sonicabuse:

"It’s rather less of a guitar album and more of a drum album."

So it's an album full of Inheritances?  ;)

Didn`t Michael say at the end of the JS& Friends tour some years ago
No, never I`ll do that again (looking at his bloody hands because of too much drumming) ???

I like the sound of Kyuss and Queens Of The Stone Age - the sound of Ceri and Michael in front  and the rest as satellites - why not? Very interesting idea
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?
