Anybody from Plymouth going to the Falmouth gig?
« on: May 30, 2013, 03:05:53 PM »
Got a mate who lives in Plymouth who doesn't drive and would like to go to the Falmouth gig on the 21st of November, can anybody help?

As a fellow Plymouth resident, I can tell you that most of us in 'the muff' are planning on other legs of the tour due to the general pain in the arse nature of getting to Falmouth and the expense of accommodation if you don't fancy the drive back that night (and who would). Sorry!  :(

ah, that explains why the venue was two thirds empty last time NMA played there then, shame, as it's a cool little place. I've booked the cheapest hotel I could find which it so happens is 0.1 miles from the venue according to AA Routeplanner, just hope a few other people will ignore the pain in the arseness factor of getting to Falmouth. Those who dipped out last time missed a cracking rare rendition of Bluebeat. Made the whole trip worthwhile all on its own for me.

Aye, if given a choice and a band is playing Falmouth or Bristol, most of us down here go to Bristol as although further away, its far easier to get to and back from and the accomodation is cheaper (if your staying). I like the venue at Falmouth, but I only ever go if its a summer gig and then I camp and make a holiday out of it.
The 'southern' leg of the tour is a right pain to be honest and I was genuinely gutted when the dates were announced. We didn't expect Plymouth, but thought that Exeter may have been on the cards. Put it this way, it makes more economic sense for me and the better half to do the four shows from Leed to Bilston, than it does to do the two in our 'area', Frome and Falmouth...
So we'll be seeing people up north come November!

I agree - given Falmo was practically deserted last time it does seem an odd choice. The Cheese and Grain's a good shout and Tommystock was an unforgettable event, clearly a tour run date won't be the same, but it's still a good NMA type venue. Disappointment they didn't play the fabulous Electric Palace in Bridport again, such a great gig last time in a fantastic venue reminiscent of the Picturedrome in Holmfirth. And the Phoenix in Exeter would have been a far better shout than Falmouth, particularly if the Plymo contingent are happy to travel.

I thought about the northern dates and am still toying with Bilston as really enjoyed the gig at the Robin2 last time out. Cheap accommodation and a good meeting of southern and northern clans midway up the country. The UK dates do seem a bit strange but then if there's a UK part 2 as there was last time maybe they will rectify things then. Also Falmo to Brighton is a hell of a hop, I was knackered making my way over to the Brook in Soton the night after Falmo last time.

Still, at least the band are on a long mazy run again. Lots to look forward to, and wherever any of us see them it will be great as always I am sure.
