Films and TV that you love!
« on: August 13, 2013, 09:25:29 PM »
OK, guys, this forum is going a bit quiet, so I'm going to start a new thread, hope you'll post back... FILMS AND TV!

I think it's been done before, but it seems that the previous thread is now lost, so I'm starting a new one.

I'm a huge film fan, but there are so many great TV shows currently running... I really think that TV is better than movies at the moment. So many good shows out there right now!

So I'm gonna post three top-5 lists (please bear in mind I'm a sci-fi nerd)...

TOP 5 TV RIGHT NOW...

1 - Game Of Thrones
2 - Breaking Bad
3 - Doctor Who
4 - Broadwalk Empire
5 - Sherlock

TOP 5 TV OF ALL TIME (IMO)

1 - Firefly
2 - Twin Peaks
3 - Fawlty Towers
4 - Brass Eye
5 - Doctor Who (the old version)

Top 5 FILMS OF ALL TIME (again IMO)

1 - Once Upon A Time In America
2 - Fight Club
3 - Kes
4 - Dead Mans Shoes
5 - Serenity

So, whats your opinion?

OK Master Rayce, not an easy challenge.

Tried to do the current TV, but gave up. I could not condense down my fave films to five, so made a cross section of several genres down from a very long list to a list of 10.

All time TV

1--Mr Ben

2--Faulty Towers

3--The Singing Detective

4--Black Adder

5--Open All Hours

6--Only Fools and Horses.

7--The Nazi"s, a Warning from History

8--The War of the Century

9--The World at War.

10--The Prisoner

All time Films

1--The Dead of Night

2--The halfway House

3--The haunting (original)

4--Terminator 2

5--Cloverfield

6--Where Eagles Dare

7--Cross Of Iron

8--Privates Progress

9--Duel

10--Midnight Cowboy.

Ashamed to say I never got into THE WIRE (although I think that Mr Elba is, quite frankly, a God of an actor) so consider it the next choice on my watchlist.

I started this thread so I could get to grips with what like-minded folk are watching.  I trust your opinions and I've got a lot of time on my hands right now, so bring 'em on!  Especially if they're on Netflix which I'm watching a lot right now because I figured how to hook up my laptop to my TV.

What else you into?

Once I got my ear tuned in to the accents, I found The Wire to be really good and deffo in my top 5 list of all time. I also enjoy a bit of Nordic Noir, one to mention is Lilyhammer.

Cheers

Yes. I would love to see the lists of   the band members  :P

Maybe people could customise it more to their preferred media, book lists maybe ?

Wierdly, I've been recently watching Youtube clips of Pipkins, which I watched when I was a little'un... I don't remember it as being so oddly disturbing...

I take your re-runs of Bullseye and I raise you repeats of 3-2-1 on Freeview...

It's an all time classic. "Bring back the couple from the first episode...I bet they'll have a gamble...what d'ya reckon Tony?"

Green's on the new series hosted by Dave Spikey - he's still wearing his 1983 sky blue jumper and slacks set.

Yes Master Ray, I've also been watching Pipkins on YouTube - to show my kids. I had to turn it up as I could Hartley Hare it  ;)

321? The most confusing quiz ever broadcast. The poetic clues, the world's first wheelie bin, the out of work actors....Saturday night TV was seriously weird in the early '80s.  :D
