Saw a band called Slaves last night who blew me away, a 2 piece with a really raw but full sound - guess you would call it garage punk.  Guitarist and a Singer / Drummer that plays standing up - never seen anyone hit drums (only 2) and cymbols so hard - Excellent new discovery will be seeing them again

Check them out below

Now that I like, Cheers for the links. :)

gaz brookfield at a cellar in Manchester, poor turn out , but he absolutely stormed it. He is free tonight in Derby, and then for all Wiltshire / somerset family he is on at the Griffin in From on Saturday night

Isn't it annoying when a cracking good artist gets a poor turnout?  I remember, some years back, seeing a certain Mr Sullivan (on one of his JSAF tours) play a respected venue that was literally just down the road from me.  A 500 capacity venue and I think that 50 people (maybe) showed up.  I was embarrassed, frankly.  Great show, though...

Back to the original point, looks like Fish at the Bilston Robin 2 is gonna be the next one for me (after NMA in Warrington)... I know NMA have played there a couple of times, looks like I'm gonna need to stay in Wolverhampton or get the late train home if I can get back in time, anyone got advice on this one?

Yes. I went to the NMA do there last year. As ever, everyone met in the local Wetherspoons, but before hand, as you face Wetherspoons, about three doors down to the left, there is a pub. Done up in mock Tudor style. Clearly the local alternative pub. Pints are under £2. They allow electric fags. The duke box is superb, it is even full of NMA albums.

Myself, Barty, and Ruckdout had acouple in there before joining the crowd in the Spoons. Go there before the gig, much better  ;)

Went to See Gaz Brookefield last night in a loverly. venue in Devises ( the lamb ) . Gaz was fine form, and if you see him playing locally ( and he seems to tour constantly ) I would recomend.

Hey Ray - I just read that the Fish tour's cancelled...me I'm avoiding gigs right now - heaps of work to deal with - anyway, I'm sorry to say Robin's real ill, can't do the gigs - Fish is pretty pissed off obviously and sending huge apologies to all. Real shame 'the feast of consequences' is a pretty damn good record.

It actually works out better for me... I ended up having to scrap my plans through lack of funds, but things should be better by the time of the rescheduled dates.

You're right 'Feast' is probably his best solo album.

I saw The Eagles at the O2 Arena on Monday night. I grew up listening to their music as they're my parents' favourite band, and therefore I have loved them since I was about 10 years old and probably before that, I just didn't know it yet.

Sure, it was a massive arena tour, my ticket was expensive, there were massive queues for the bars and the loos, but it was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

Those blokes could teach men half their age a thing or two (as could NMA, obviously!!). This is supposed to be their very last tour, and it's the first time I got the chance to see them live. No "paying the mortgage" tour, and not a sad echo of what they once were - simply brilliant musicians with great stories and terrific tunes.

I loved it so much I've managed to grab myself another ticket for their Friday night show. I just couldn't let that be the first and last time I ever got to see them live. My wallet isn't thanking me, but I certainly won't lie awake at night disappointed that I DID go!

Bring on Friday!  :D
No one cares anymore where you've been
So you find a quiet place to shed that old skin
You won't need it again

I would have went to Morrissey but the bastard canceled once again. I love him as an artist but he does not care about his fans one bit. He blames the support act for him being ill. I think he just has a very, very weak immune system.

The Smiths are probably my second favourite band ever (after NMA, obviously) and I've really enjoyed a lot of Morrissey solo stuff (his last album, 'Years Of Refusal' was excellent), but the man talks so much bullshit nowadays, it's getting harder and harder to sympathise with him...  ???

That said, I'm starting to think he has serious health issues. Likewise, with Lemmy (bloody love Motorhead).  I'm starting to wonder which one of them will shuffle off this mortal coil first... either way, I'd be gutted.

I still love Morrissey as an artist. He's just canceled so many gigs that I paid for. I hope nothing is seriously wrong.

OK, thought I'd reactivate this thread, seeing as I'm back in a job and might have some spare cash to spend on my favourite thing, GOING TO GIGS... so, who you seeing?   ???

Looks like I got a busy week in December... Machine Head at Notts Rock City on wed 17, Fish in Liverpool on Friday 19 and, oh, some bunch of grim northern buggers on Sat 13, again at Notts Rock City, can't remember what they're called right now...  ;D

Really hoping to make it to Lacuna Coil (tues 4 nov) and Marillion (wed 10 dec), both at Manchester Ritz, great venue... also The Gaslight Anthem at Manchester Apollo (either 17 or 18 Nov) but not sure if the finances can stretch to that... why the **** do all the bands I like tour in November or December????  >:(

Whatever... where you going?   :D
