I tried to give "Breaking Bad" another shot and I still can't get into it. I don't understand as it's regarded as a wonderful show. i have figured, It's me not the show.  :)

It is deffo you, you're an awful tasteless person...

 ;D

Nah, kidding, mate, not everything will appeal to everybody.  For the record, I've never understood the appeal of 'Only Fools And Horses'... that seems to be utter blasphemy amongst my friends... but it never made laugh once...

I never got "breaking bad" either. I think a lot of the appeal is to people who think they are experiencing the "dark side" of life. It's like living out your fantasies by proxy. I had the same problem with "game of thrones". Bring in the new cast menbers and we'll kill them all off by the 6th episode.
I'm geared towards the averagae rather than the exceptional.

Just finished watching Calvary after Master Ray's recommendation. Seriously. What a fantastic film. Tragi-comedy I guess theyd call it. One to watch.
Hala (from the Anglo-Saxon word "halh", meaning nook or remote valley), until it was gifted by King Henry II to Welsh Prince David Owen and became known as Halas Owen

Glad you liked it!  Well worth a watch, as I said before.  DrummyB, you ever checked out THE GUARD?  Same writer / director and also starring Brendan Gleeson.  Apparently, TG and C are the first two parts of a trilogy (not literally, but in theme and concept) and the third is in the pre-production stages... apparently it's another comedy / drama with Mr Gleeson as an angry paraplegic... can't wait for that one!

Yeah. I loved the Guard. Didnt realise it was part of a trilogy. Calvary isnt out and out comedy like the Guard was. Some sobering lines in the script. Both equally good in their own right :-)

OK, a shitty rainy afternoon, so that makes it Movie Afternoon round at Master Rays flat...  ;)

NOAH... interesting flick that I enjoyed despite my atheist beliefs.  Can't believe that some film studio paid $125 million on such a religion heavy film.  Also interesting that Noah is, basically, an utter bastard through much of the second half.  No spoilers here, but Russell Crowe gives a terrific performance, Jennifer Connolly and Ray Winstone are also great.  Even Emma Watson, pretty though she is (but not a very good actress IMO) is decent enough... also, some pretty spectacular visuals.  I'd give it a go if I were you.

After that, I stuck on THE OUTSIDERS which I haven't seen in many a long year... loved this film as a teenager and still loved it today.  One of the best 'young people' movies ever with fantastic cinematography and a great soundtrack.  Also funny to see a young Tom Cruise before he had his teeth and nose fixed...  ;D

So annoyed right now, there's been so much good TV over the last few months... but GAME OF THRONES, ORPHAN BLACK and PENNY DREADFUL have finished, only a couple of episodes of 24 left, CALIFORNICATION is finished for good... someone recommend me a great show to fill the gap?!?

BBC4, Britain's most dangerous songs. Documentary on songs banned over the years. From George Formby, Louis Armstrong, The Pistols, Franky guz to Hollywood, Aceeed, Ding Dong the witch is dead, etc, etc. Interesting stuff with some great clips.

The Hobbit - The second film

I now want three hours back of my life. It should be one film because it's one book. TLOTR worked well as a film but this is horrible. Maybe if it were one film it would be better but no, three makes more money.

I agree with you (again :D) about NOAH Master Ray!
It's not bad at all...Crowe is good (my favourite performance of his is in Michael Mann's THE INSIDER, see the thread ;)) and Jennifer Connelly is one of my favourite american actresses, i loved her in films like the little known and wonderful WAKING THE DEAD, HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG, PHENOMENA...

After that, I stuck on THE OUTSIDERS which I haven't seen in many a long year... loved this film as a teenager and still loved it today.  One of the best 'young people' movies ever with fantastic cinematography and a great soundtrack.  Also funny to see a young Tom Cruise before he had his teeth and nose fixed...  ;D

I have good memories of this one, the ending was especially touching...and what a casting (i had always a soft spot for Diane Lane :P)
I like very much others Coppola films like ONE FROM THE HEART, RUMBLE FISH, PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED...his last movies TWIXT and TETRO were pretty good too.

Would you all think me a bit feeble-minded if I told you that I watched the new Muppets movie (MUPPETS - MOST WANTED) and thoroughly enjoyed it..?  :o
