A couple of great things I've watched over the last couple of days...
STARRED UP... bloody brilliant film. A UK prison movie that was so over-looked at the cinema when it came out earlier this year. It's about a lad from a young-offenders institute who gets moved up to an adult prison two years before schedual due his over-violent nature (hence being 'starred up') and finds himself on the same wing as his lifer father. Don't want to say anything more, no spoilers here, but it's an absolute cracker of a movie. Deffo check it out.
The other one was BOY A, a 2007 UK TV movie I've been trying to find for ages but only found last night via the internet. VERY controversial... loosely based on the Jamie Bulger murder in the 90's (non-UK readers, a truly awful case where a pair of 9 year old boys tortured and murdered a toddler...), it's about a young man who has spent 20 years in a young offenders institute after doing something terrible as a child and is finally released into society and tries to build a life for himself... again, no spoilers, but it's a genuinely moving film and VERY diversive... Andrew Garfield who plays the main character, also known as the most recent Spider Man, is so damn good in this film, as is everyone else... again, try and have a look at this one if you get chance...
Been watching quite a bit of other stuff, will keep you posted...
