New Model Army on the One Show
« on: January 21, 2014, 06:05:34 PM »
My Flatmate is watching the One Show (I know, I know), and I was busy Surfing vaguely - and the next thing you know, an article about Bradford had a New Model Army soundtrack for about 5 seconds. Purity.  Who'd have thunk it ?

Sorry I missed that!

I've always thought that NMA music would suit so many films or TV shows, but the only things I can remember is 'Purity' being used in a brilliant French film called 'Savage Nights', which I saw once back in the early 90's and now seems to be completely unavailable, and 'Notice Me' being used in 'Trigger Happy TV'...

I'm sure that this has been brought up before, but does anyone else have any recollection of NMA's music being used in a film or TV show?

Yes M/Ray, I have often thought the same. I have thought NMA would suit Shane Meadows films.

Bloody love the films of Mr Meadows.

Can you imagine 'Dead Mans Shoes' with an NMA or Sullivan soundtrack?  If I had the technical know-how, I'd do a mash-up Youtube thing...

I can imagine 'Sleepwalking' over the opening credits...

 ???

Exactly the  film I had in mind. Sleepwalking yes, and maybe a bit of Rainy Night.

i've noticed over the last 5 years or so that alot of music from my younger days is being used like this. here is my thoughts as to why - the people who choose the music etc are probably in the same age range of some of us on here, and they have worked their way up the ladder to get to that position bringing with them the music from their formative years
i am now freelance & only just discovered last year the two owners of a company i've worked for for a good few years (never met them in person) are a pair of tattooed metal'eads, i now call them beavis & butthead, though neither wants to be butthead
also, a company i picked up earlier this year, the woman who runs it was a NMA fan during her college days but lost track of the music scene with work & family etc

also, working in construction office settings over the years i was continuously ribbed for my 'alternative' taste in music, however, the same people now think some of the more 'mainstream alt' bands are actually quite good. just look at how bands like sabbath, maiden, ac/dc etc have gone from being 'outsiders' to 'known in the minds of people who live in the '''mainsteam''' world of britains got tw@ts, sorry talent!
dare i say that even some of those 'anti system' bands are now part of the 'system'
i hope that makes sense, my morning coffee may have been a bit too strong

A few years back they used No Rest for an announcement for Buffy the vampireslayer here in Holland, the guy/girl who made them for that tv channel used a lot of good music all the time.

A number of years ago Green and Grey and Vagabonds were played on Sky One's Dream Team, a crappy soap based around a football team. Please believe me that I only watched it once!
