Just thought of a brilliant non fiction book for you Master Ray (and anybody else out there) its called A Short History Of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. It certainly put a few things in perspective. :o

LOVE me a bit of Mr Bryson! And, yes, I have read 'Short History...'

Waiting until his new book, 'One Summer', is out in paperback... my bezzie mate Dan is reading it right now, he says it's great...

One of my favourite books ever is Mr Brysons 'A Walk In The Woods', highly recommended...

Just posted about this on the 'sad' forum, but Sue Townsend, author of the Adrian Mole books, just died.

So gutted...the first couple of books were massive in the 80's, but the series carried on right into this decade, the last one was about three years ago... they were all great, well worth a read.

Adrian Mole was exactly the same age as myself and re-reading those books is like re=reading my own history...

Apparently, Sue has plans for at least two more books but I guess we'll never get to read them now.

Again, bloody gutted...    :'(

Strangely this is my first time reading it.

Thought I'd reactivate this thread...

Just finished re-reading a brilliant novel by John Niven called 'Kill Your Friends'... kind of like 'American Psycho' but set in the 90's UK music scene... much of it is SO wrong but also so funny...

Just started reading The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. It's the first book in a trilogy along the lines of Game of Thrones. Dark fantasy I guess you would call it.

No posts since September, so REACTIVATE....  ;)

Just finished reading HOPEFUL by Omid Djalili... a very enjoyable biography from a comedian / actor that I like very much.  Some terrific stories about being an Iranian boy growing up in the 70's in a rather unusual UK household and then somehow, a couple of decades later, becoming someone who shows up rather a lot on TV and in movies...

Got a biography of Joss Whedon lined up next.... any of you out there who are a bit geeky will know who I mean...   ;)
