I'm in the middle of ''Journey Under the Midnight Sun'' by Keigo Higashino. But I'm also in the middle of weird apathy, I've been sooo lazy this month that it starts to feel like a medical condition. I haven't opened the book for a week now. Can't find the energy to do much else either, and my attention span seems to shrink day by day... so I mainly stare out of the window, trying to figure out something to do.

Reading Finders Keepers by Stephen King and, dammit, if it isn't the best thing he's done in many a long year.  Rather disappointed with so many of his books over the last couple of decades (mostly because they're so overlong and weak in storylines) but I picked this one up in a charity shop before Lockdown and finally got around to it... damn, it's great.  Interesting characters, a strong storyline and it zips along nicely because it's less than about a thousand pages long!   ;D

Although I didn't relalise it was a sequel to Mr Mercedes so, er, oops... must get around to that before I get onto the last part of the trilogy, End Of Watch, which I believe is far more linked in to MM...

Yup, mine too!  Read everything Mr King did between Carrie and Cell but got a bit bored with some of his later books, may give some of them another go...

Also, you seen the new TV version of The Stand?  I gave up about three episodes in.  It isn't like it's a terribly bad show or anything, it's well made enough and well acted, it's just that after reading the book it's like seeing the whole story told in bullet points... no background, no depth, none of the 'colouring in' of the characters that King does so well.  Give it a go if you fancy it but I suspect you'll be as disappointed as I was...

I have to admit that I only read some of King's books when I was a teenager... Since then some of my friends were really recommending some books of his but I never managed to get to read those... It's about time now, right? :)

''The Owl Service'' by Alan Garner.....yes i know it is a children's book by definition, i don't think that matters it is a fantastic read and the writing can be enjoyed by children and adults alike (imho)..In fact in the introduction by Philip Pullman there is a quote that reads...''Is it a children's book? Of course it is,and of course it's not only for children''.which sums it up nicely......i am loving it..

Rare occasion, reading some non-fiction, ''Letters from an Astrophysicist'' by Neil deGrasse Tyson. In order to not to get all too serious, at the same time re-reading a book I received as a birthday gift couple of years ago from my always awesome friends...it's by Nick Caruso and Dani Rabaiotti and it's called ''Does It Fart? The Definitive Field Guide to Animal Flatulence ''  ;D

''Rabbit Stew And A Penny Or Two''..by Maggie Smith-Bendell,the book is a story of her life as a Romani /Romany Gypsy travelling around Britain in the 1950's.It tells of the hard times and prejudice they experienced and also the really happy times.......the book is both funny and very sad , really enjoying it.Also very much of interest to myself as my father was of Romany Gypsy origin...horse traders on his fathers side and travelling herbalists on his mothers....sadly he is no longer around as i have become very interested in this subject in later years,i remember some of the stories he told me when i was young but would love to have found out more.

After reading Neil deGrasse Tyson's book I realized that when I was a kid I used to know the names of many constellations but now only remembered Ursa Major. I dug out a Guide to Nigh Sky from my bookshelf, working on fixing that issue. Universe is amazing! I live on the 11th floor so despite light pollution, on clear nights I see the starry sky from my bed - and now I know that the bright star I see before midnight is yellow giant Arcturus, only 37 light-years away. Polaris is 460 ly away. How cool. With my new-found enthusiasm for spotting the stars, I'm slightly annoyed about the nine o'clock curfew as I can only spot the stars I see through my window to the east. When the curfew is lifted, I'll run to the nearby hill at night.
