First off, I'll admit the thing I did completely wrong in my 25+ years as a working man...
Firstly never ever look back, its only going to give you the impression you were wrong most of the time mate! The things I've done wrong, wrong choices, lost chances, women I should have committed to.........it happens and we learn from it. I think it can only do your head in. So you made the choices that you thought right at the time!
I hear what you say, but you clearly are a guy who has intellect and a spark. It's not too late to do anything, change anything I always believe. We are told by society that after a time we are on a set path, bollocks I say. I sweated whether to stay in IT which I am qualified for or be like my Dad (long dead) and go into construction. So years ago I retrained and here I am now.
And thank you for being glad I am doing well at the mo, I didnt write that to sound smug. I have been through shit as well, my first attempt years ago failed and I lost my home to pay off the debts, but you gotta get the f**k up, don't let the bastards drive you down etc
So I learnt a lot from the fail and in 1998 tried again with the wisdom of age, (though luckily I was still pretty young) and failure to back me now. At the mo it's going from strength to strength, because like or loath the government they are putting money into construction and there is shitloads of it, so much we can't keep up. However it only takes a red or blue government to bugger it up and we may have to rethink. but fingers crossed!
