So... after a year or so of back problems and a couple of MRI scans, we are no closer to understanding why I'm in so much pain when I try and walk anywhere for more than 20 minutes... had a doctors visit today, he's referring me for more tests.  And he casually and vaguely mentioned there's a very strong possibility of 'myeloma' without explaining what it meant.  What the heck, he's the expert, so if he didn't look too worried, I wasn't going to be worried either!

Cheers, you lot.  Not unduly worried right now, it's just a theory, although I'd rather been hoping that the scans would have shown up something definitive... even if meant an operation, I'd have been happy with that (someone I know had back surgery for a recurrant problem and it was the best thing he ever did...)

Just annoyed that I was left to figure it out for myself... I think I'll be switching doctors.

What pisses me off is hundreds... thousands... tens of thousands...millions of families effected by  the great war. There was no need for that.

I've done the battlefields now, met French, German, Italian, Canadian, Aussies and of course Welsh and Scots along the way.

Got pots of mud from various sites on the Somme. I won't put them down my GC for analysis. Just keep them

Edit. It is a great leveller. Lesley lost her Great Uncle at the Somme, I lost my Great Grandfather at Passchendaele.

My girlfriend's Great Great Great Uncle died in battle on 18th Oct 1914.  His body & a number of others were discovered during construction work in the French village of Beaucamps-Ligny in 2009 & he & the others were buried in Oct 2014 at Y Farm Cemetary in northern France.  My girlfriend & I feel very privileged to have been there.  Very moving.
