BDAW was released 1 year ago. How do you feel about it today?

I think it's wonderful. Brilliantly produced and written. An accomplishment.

I think that it is overall a very good album, a quite mature work from the band.
My only complaint: the album is a bit too long at times (for example, the ending bits of "Lean back and fall" and "between dog and wolf"), maybe it should have been slightly more edited.

Great title/concept/production and  7 oustanding songs, but several filler songs for me so a "near classic".

Still loving it! One of their best in my opinion. I think it needed to be quite long to work as a 'mood piece'. There are only 2 or 3 songs on there that I often skip. I guess it will forever divide opinions like Carnival did (which I also love).

Must admit on first listen I wasn't blown away by it, having listened/watched the "March in Sept." sampler I was expecting something more "NMA". I think the video for this song filled me with nostalgia & left me thinking that BDAW would be more old school NMA.
On second listen I thought this is interesting but still not what I was expecting, maybe a slow burner.
Next few listens were accompanied by "Oh yeah, yeah, yessss!!!, this band are fresh.
And for the next year BDAW just got more & more enjoyable, one of their best.
Then hearing most of those songs live....incredible.
To think that they have been on the go for 30+ years....masters of their art.

Blimey, a year already? Gift that keeps on giving ain't it? there's a LOT of layers in there and still hear the odd new sound buried deep down in the mix.

Superb piece of work. It'll remain a fave for a long time with me. I made the choice to ask for the album for Xmas and so I saw the songs live last year before hearing them so have really strong memories of that first listen. For the same reasons I really like the live versions on BWAW.
And I wish and I wish we could start over again Yes I wish and I wish we could win back Her love once again

[...] I made the choice to ask for the album for Xmas and so I saw the songs live last year before hearing them so have really strong memories of that first listen. [...]

I had the very same thing. Very strong memories from that time about BDAW and life then in general. The tour and songs on the album brought some light to that pitch black November and December.

I still feel that BDAW is, was, a miracle. It's a diamond. All that mysterious peace, "hymns" and haunting melodies.

Fair enough, Claire, there have been NMA albums (only a couple, mind you!) that others love but I rarely play.

Hope the next one is more to your taste... be interested in your opinion of BWAB, though...  ???

I love it!
And have to admit that most of the live tracks sound better than on the studio album.

Also, the version of Knieval that Justin Dean and Marshall did at Southend was stunning.
