The Exploited
« on: December 30, 2014, 06:33:26 PM »
I will apologise in advance if my post has already been covered, but just found out that Wattie from the exploited had a heart attack on stage earlier this year, i had no clue.

Never seen them live but was brought up on their music from a teenager.

Is anyone else on here an Exploited fan ?

I'm a fan. I think Punks Not Dead was my first punk record on Vinyl. I knew he had a heart attach on stage, yes. Heard he is doing better now, or is even touring again. Never seen them live, but want to one day they come to Belgium again.

Pol, the bands you were talking about are excellent. I have Antipasti and Chron-Gen records. As well as Exploited too.

Big John is quite interesting person. You Scotts should know the Gin Goblins? Excellent horror punk band. A bit excellent
Btw, how was it what happened to  Bog John later on

I used to know them back in the early days(1st album) and was regularly on their guest list,we even did some "security" for them at a few gigs.To me they were a great live band and the energy didn't really come across on the records.I used to know the bass player Gary McCormack mainly and I believe he went onto acting,he was in Gangs of New York!.I've never managed to see them since about 1982!,i was planning to go to a gig in Manchester last year but it was cancelled because of Watties health, the gig is on again this spring so I may well make the effort for old times sake!

I would like to see them live as i have bought many of the albums.

I have to be honest and say that whilst i have first hand experience of the pit at many an NMA gig, for some reason an Exploited equivalent scares me somewhat, especially listening to the raw energy that the band produced in the early days (and still do now if you listen to **** the System).

Exploited albums Massacre and Punks Not Dead were my first punk albums I bought as well as the Charged G.B.H. No Need to Panic and UK Subs Demonstration Tapes.

I think the best of Exploited are Let's Start a War, Troops of Tomorrow and Horror Epics.

I know the singer of Oi Polloi. He once said to me that one of his friends played in Exploited too. I've heard Wattie likes motorcycles a lot. Maybe Jez Pike might know more about Wattie's hobbies?

That shirt died many years before I stopped wearing it ! More holes than shirt.

I wore a Damned polo shirt on Sport Relief Day.

It was a long long time ago when I used to know the band, they were only about 18 or 19 at the time,i think one of their 1st ever gigs in England was at a West Indian club in Preston,2 coach loads of punks down from Edinburgh it scared a few of the Preston regulars away, great gig though
