Sad indeed, but I'm unfamiliar with her music and I'm afraid it's one of those 'didn't she die years ago?' scenarios for me...

Funnily enough I saw a tribute act to The Jam called 'The Jam'd' a couple of weeks ago.  Do see them if you get chance, they were excellent.  I hadn't listened to anything by The Jam in a while but they reminded me of how superb that band was, yes they played the usual hits but plenty of deep cuts as well and it's led me to listen once again to the full output of this great band...

I'd certainly say that they were one of the ten best ever bands from the UK.   8)

Double whammy, we've lost both Blondie drummer Clem Burke and Gang of Four bassist Dave Allen  :(

Just found out that reggae legend Max Romeo died late last week, think I need to have a listen to "War Inna Babylon" in his memory.

Mike Peters - The Alarm...such sad news!

The Alarm was my best friend's favourite band back in the day - we saw them quite a few times and then, I think it was in 2000, we saw Big Country's last show...and Mike Peters was opening with The Alarm.

He seemed like a genuinley nice guy and the way he never gave up, remained strong and positive, fighting cancer repeatedly - and fighting to raise money and awareness for others fighting cancer - now, that was beyond courageous and inspirational.

Things seemed to be looking so very promising after his latest treatment - and that must have been really tough, too...

Very sorry for his family and friends.

Mike Peters. Legend.

The Alarm emerged the same time as NMA and saw them together at The Lyceum, London in 1984.

Both bands had mutual fans in those early days. Mike was honest and always positive. A great role model.

Thoughts go out to his wife Jules, his 2 boys and of course his wider family and friends.

God bless Mike x

Only saw him live once, but he was a damn good guitarist and influenced a lot of folk guitarists. Check out  his appearance on the hillarious Alan Whicker BBC reportage from 1960 about Newquay getting uppity with the dirty beatniks who came down for the summer...

Brian Wilson a true legend.....the word genius is so over used (imho) when talking about some people....but not in this instance he was truly incredible.....Was lucky enough to see him twice once with his own band and also on Beach Boys 50th. anniv. tour ,paid £80.00 for the ticket the most i have ever paid by far for a concert........worth every penny.....RIP. :'(..
