Personally, from my multiple US visits, I find Chicago to be a far finer city... but each to their own.  That's my opinion, not a 'fact'...
I'm not from either, but I'll take New York over Chicago any day.

Woah. Someone made a New York?? Whats was wrong with the old one?? Cant abide these invented towns. Bloody planners.

New York is so much better than the original. I always felt it could be improved upon and boy, did they do it! York was always a bit flat and lifeless, what they've done with the new one is staggering: A major cultural hub, skyscrapers and not a Viking center in sight. A vast improvement  :)

I'm sorry but if there aren't the remnants of a wall encircling this "New" Jorvik and a chocolate factory, then a stock exchange just doesn't do it for me  ;D

But let's imagine: in a situation if there was another version of the songs made by some fan of New Model Army; it should get noticed in a list of cover songs. Maybe you can remember some of them: Gaijin collected a list of covers made by other artists who are fans of NMA. They should also get noticed and updated once there are new cover songs coming in future. What is a pity, is that this was an April's fool directed on us made by a prankster.  ::)

Cheers

Edit: The list seems to lack Redaka's version of Seven Times. Can't find it even in a Google anymore. Either is it removed by Redaka himself or due to copyrights? I thought it was a legal version.  ???

Well I genuinely though that this was an April Fools joke on us (for once).

In my post I also put in a nod to the F word thread in Everything Else.

On the first night of the holiday I thought this was just a bit of good natured mickey taking - not a serious political debate.

I parked the wordy serious part of myself somewhere at the end of my first beer after a very intense week at work.  Obviously that was my mistake.

Am I the only person in the world who would genuinely love to hear this fabled new version of Inheritance....?

I really do wish that I still had it. I really do. Not for my pleasure, but for yours and everyone else at this site.

You just have to take my word for it on this: my version of "Inheritance" in which I added my guitar playing over the original Sullivan/Heaton tune is one of the best songs I've ever heard. It is a sooo much better than the New Model Army version. And look, I'll admit the original is a good song. It's just that my guitar playing, production skill, and songwriting craft turned the good Sullivan/Heaton song into something brilliant.

But, alas, I can't find it so now it is just a lost treasure. Like an unfound Shakespeare play, a Michelangelo sculpture that has crumbled, a Picasso taken and lost by the Nazis, my version of "Inheritance" is up there with those.

Is there anyway you could re-record it, just for us? You could even try it with without the guitar parts!!! as an experiment? It might be interesting, like Prince not putting a bass line on When doves cry in his heyday, you know? Sometimes leaving space and starkness can be more powerful than filling everything in - Prince is/was the master of this!

I actually added a bass line to "When Doves Cry." I didn't record it, I was just playing along to the song one day, but I do remember I improved the song.

I once played a wobble board over God Save the Queen. Not only did enliven a dull song it also tipped a nod to the Commonwealth.
