Deep Purple's Child In Time clocks in at just over the 10 min threshold;

That's nice, Tony. I tried to find an extended version of Mandrake Root I know they usually performed live, I din't find so good versions about it but it was also a killer song combined with all that jamming fury and craziness they often entered to.

Oh yeah, I've got a couple of live cds with extended versions of Mandrake Root ! I like your description "jamming fury and craziness". Sums it up quite well ! As Ian Gillan once said "Can we have everything louder than everything else"  :)

Deep Purple in Rock was my first lp (a christmas gift of my elder brother) :)

There are many LONG songs I like (Cream, Blind Faith ...)
let`s start with this one

Rare Earth - I`m loosing you - 10:59
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F28X8--2dFU
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?

Rare Earth  in concert - Get Ready (23:34, not easy to top)

I and some others were cleaning the dancing floor with our long hair  ;D
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?

Or one of my fav song ever
Eric Burdon& War live - Tobacco Road (14:08)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig4jQrofnBI

The version of Paint It Black is fine, too

Eric is still touring, I`ve never seen him live, so I`ll better hurry to arrange it before it`s too late ....

A short one
Man - Many are called (7:32)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig4jQrofnBI

1965 - 1975 was the time a lot of bands had the chance to record LONG songs and to play them live - without bothering the fans - and the artists at that time were able to write and play their own songs or to do some very personal and interesting cover songs in their own style

but not today >:(

Only two fav bands are left I want to follow and looking for some new stuff and touring dates  :'( :'(

And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?

Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize ( Comes clocked at 17:44) of great music I saw them perform this live in 2007 and the shorter version in 2008 that version came in at 9 minutes. 8)

 And let me not forget

Pink Floyd - Echoes which comes clocked at 23:34 and I also saw them perform this live in 1975 in Tuscon. What a show. even after all these years and chemical stimulants ;) I can still remember that concert. 8)

i really like master rays approach to this topic and want to contribute to this thread with the following two songs.

my first fandomly love of a band was for frankie goes to hollywood and i still love of their work and their appearance and what they meant for pop music. "they" is the product of the band and i still wonder how many people were involved, what part did erverybody have. many questions left. but if you go back and listen to the lps welcome to the pleasuredome and liverpool, you will find some wonderful music with great lyrics.

i really think nma could cover rage hard or warriors of the wasteland and it would fit. these songs seem to be worthy to be adapted by nma.

and since we all love nma also for the lyrics and poetry, i invite you to read these from warriors which i love:

From diamond mine to the factory
Everybody's doing what you've got to keep on doing for society
Make this world a good place to be
Let livin' be but don't work for free
Playing isn't paying so work is what I'm saying
Working for the world go round
The battle cry don't mess with me
I've traveled the world for eternity

Warriors of the wasteland
Sailboats of ice on desert sands
Warriors of the wasteland

It seems to me that the powers that be
Keep themselves in splendour and security
Armoured cars for megastars
No streets, no bars, yours wealth is ours
They make the masses, kiss their assets
Lower class jackass, pay me tax take out the trash
Working for the world go round
Your job is gold, do as you're told
They pay you less then run for congress

Warriors of the wasteland
Sailboats of ice on desert sands
Warriors - what a waste, man
I'm working for the world go round, go round

Diamond mine to the factory, yeah
Make this a world, a good place to be

Warriors - what a waste, man

Warriors

We're rats in a cage

Suicide a go go

listen to the song...

but here you have a 12min mix of rage hard. candy for the ear and you really can learn a bit to listen to different structures and layers in a song. it opened my ears

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54vP7fHrJT8

then here is the opener of the album welcome to the pleasuredome with the same title. it's a 13min ride through wonderland. imagine you listen to this song after buying the album because you know the no. 1 hit relax.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVDC6kPCkWA

don't know if some of you will like these old pop songs, but to me it's more than pop
ever tried. ever failed. no matter.
try again. fail again. fail better.

I reckon there are two obvious ones that haven't been mentioned yet.

Mr Oldfield "Tubular Bells"

Part one (25:00 on the album cover)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LFCG7kOsxE

Part two (23:50 on the album cover) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKgVtDhzScI

Each one almost as long as an episode of "blue Peter"  !

Cthulhu, I am also a fellow Frankie lover, mainly through nostalgic memories, but it's love all the same (lets face it, the Pleasuredome album had a shitload of filler on it!).  And Warriors is a fantastic tune, although I prefer the 'Liverpool' version...

I truly think that the 'Liverpool' album is an under-rated classic...

Anna, live tracks are all welcome...

Here's the utterly lovely 'Secret World' by Peter Gabriel, live from the tour of the same name... wish I could have seen this show...
