Is it just me or is the first distorted bass note of beginning exactly the same distorted bass note as RHCP around the world...?  I was half expecting flea to break into a bass run...

Is it just me or "Burn the castle" sounds like "Luhrstaap"?
Is it just me or "Die trying" sounds like "Higher wall"?

From Die Trying to Higher Wall to Partisan?
For me this three songs stand alone
and I like this version of Partisan (Cohen with Noir Desir)  ;)

I admit, there were certain moments on 'Winter' when I thought that (this track) sounded a little bit like (that track)...

What the heck, it's been 30+ years and a couple of hundred tracks, there are only so many notes a band can play...  :)
... but at what point does it stop being CPR and start being like trying to reanimate a corpse?

Aye me to. Thought I heard a riff from Orange Tree Roads at the beginning of one song. The start of "Die trying"  is similar to the start of "Higher Wall", but to me "Die trying" is pretty much a sequel to "Higher Wall" with the lyrics and subject matter

That said, I think its a first rate album with its own individual sound and flow. Very different from their last album. I don't know how they manage to do it. - Will they ever run out of fresh ideas for material ? Lets hope not  ;)
