So your girlfriend thinks that "If I could have my way, I would line them up against a wall" is romantic?!?!?

Oddly enough, I think that's the v part that appealed to her. I guess it's the righteous anger against those who have hurt a beloved. She has issues with her family...Oh dear, I shall have to get em in line  ;)

Any ideas?

Vengeance
The hunt
Here comes the war
Christian Militia
Sex (the black angel)
Heroin
Flying through the smoke
Another imperial day
One of the chosen
Bloodsports
Today is a good day
Angry planet
Burn the castle

Orange Tree Roads

But is there really a future for the love in this song?

"Will you still love me...when everything is changed??" ;)

"Far better thing" somewhat is about love...killing someone by love because you don't want him/her to suffer anymore...

That would depend on the answer to the question. Everything will change, so it's natural to wonder. The song leaves it unanswered, but sounds hopeful & optimistic, though I'm sure, like everything else, the nature of that love would change too

Justin once said before playing this song live, something like "If you're not changing, you're already dead i think!"

Drift - all about opposites attracting.

And put 'Sleepwalking' on there too - instrumental, but I defy anyone to remain unmoved.

I meant what I said at the time that I said it.

Living In The Rose  :-*

Between Dog & Wolf - described by JS as a winter love song

Changing Of The Light
Waving at the devil that I know and the devil that I don't

Living in the Rose. I can remember an NME review saying something along the lines of it having more passion than all the other songs released that week.

Before I Get Old
"I'll watch the sun set over every sea
From every city wall, every mountain peak"

I Love The World - Romantic, in the doomed, despairing, sense
"But we are locked together here, this bittersweet embrace
Oh God I love the world"

Ocean Rising - likewise...
"And I'll be there - where the sky touches the sea
At the edge of the ocean where the beautiful world fades into the grey
I dream of the ocean, rising, rising"

and Leeds Road 3am is a sad, sad story of how close we all are to the darkness....

Just thought of one, Carlisle Road.  Deffo a song about love for your family... I think it's interesting how the narrators wife or partner 'says nothing', which could mean she's supportive (and too upset for words) or hating for whatever happened, but the narrator still obviously loves his children...

Came home four, four-thirty, Emma was waiting up for me
News chanel drone on the TV, her arms clasped around her knee
She looked up but said nothing
I went up to the kids bedroom, touched their sleeping faces
Wondered how I could protect them
 Wondered how to protect them

I do like lyrics that invite you to hang on your own personal interpretation...

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Love Songs yet. It's full of longing." Please believe like I still believe the best is yet to come"

Agree with Master Ray about Carlisle Road

I also think that Afternoon Song has a romantic feel to it, and Orange Tree Roads

...here goes...some are for the gentleness of the music, others are for the lyrics...

11 Years
Marry The Sea
Paekakariki Beach
Caslen (no vocals version)
Big Blue
and, maybe, Autumn

bah.  humbug.
