What's your favoured method of doing poached eggs, anyone?  Mine is to heat up a pan of water until it's just below boiling point.  Then crack the eggs directly (and gently) into the water, then leave them alone for two and a half to three minutes.  Scoop out, drain off the water and put directly onto toast.  Salt and pepper optional.

Should we start a separate 'what to do with eggs' thread?  I love eggs.   

Well - I'm no expert, but I was once told that just before dropping the eggs in you need to stir the water gently counter clockwise.  Not sure why stirring the water makes a difference and I'm 100% the counter clockwise bit is BS.

I admit that self-deprecating response was influenced by a boxer named Tex Cobb. A reporter said that Cobb is a fat, cocaine-snorting drunk. Cobb hilariously responded, "I'm not fat."

Probably. He made a lot of movies. He actually was a pretty funny guy and not a bad boxer. But that "I'm not fat" response to being called a "fat, cocaine-snorting drunk" is really what makes him legendary. I've often used that style of response. It works well.

Anything with Piers Morgan.  Controversial, I know.  He's sometimes kind of a prick but I've always liked the guy, especially after his argument with that bloody idiot Alex Jones on gun control... he's also done a series of good and interesting interviews with interesting folks like John Lydon... written a couple of entertaining books as well where he puts down the whole celebrity culture..l.
