The perils of being an early adopter
« on: May 14, 2019, 08:36:53 PM »
I don't want to put anyone off, but, just tried to order the new album From Here, from here (as it were):

https://newmodelarmy.tmstor.es/

Bit of a ropey experience, sorry to say. Site says "order failed" but PayPal says "thanks for your purchase", and the money has been deducted.

I went through the process twice (same error both times), but seem to only have paid once. Have raised a support ticket with the shop, I'm sure they'll fix it.

Hmmm... :-\  everything seemed to go through ok when I placed my order, and I used paypal.  Maybe whatever the glitches were, have since been corrected?  Please, don't anyone get discouraged, or put off from ordering, as it's still very early days, anyway.  :)

Quick update - my support ticket was resolved by Elle from TM Stores. Looking forward to hearing the new record.

No signed 'From Here' CDs...

Why are there  no signed CD's ?

Yeah, I found the fact that signed CD's weren't offered, a bit depressing, actually.  I am ecstatic, though, that they've gone with a coloured vinyl option, and, a splattered one to boot!  :D  But, it's not like I play my vinyl though.  :-[  lol, I don't even have it on display or anything.  It's just not a format I'm really into, other than for the pure esthetics of it, the packaging.  I just absolutely cannot stand, LOATHE even,  >:(  the snap, crackle and pop of it!  *cringe*  When I play vinyl, that part of it, the skipping, scratching, popping sound of it IS the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard, to me, really!  lol, it gets me so pissed off, that it gets in the way of me enjoying the music!  Sad, eh?  But, unfortunately true!  Vinyl is a format that only interests me when it's offered in colour.  Only play CD's and cassettes these days.

Would've loved to have seen a 'From Here' cassette option offered, as well as, durable, over-sized, quality totes... but I'm likely in the minority.  A lot of other artists have reintroduced cassette versions of new releases... Beck, Hozier, among others.  Just would've been super nice, to have those too, that's all.  Oh well,  :-\  beggars (me) can't be choosers, as they say.

Respect to anyone who would like to buy FH on cassette, but I truly do not understand why anyone would want to being that format back...  :-\

As for 'splattered vinyl'... I genuinely had never heard of it before this thread.  And after reading about it, I'm pretty sure I'd never buy one of those discs...  ;)

Just what format of 'From Here' did you even order, I wonder.

Yup, that's a pretty thing alright.  But it's a pretty thing i've got no use for.  I just want the music.   ;)

But, hey, enjoy it, those folks who are into that kind of stuff, may it bring you much happiness!
