Like most NMA fans, I buy any new material straight from the shop on pre order. I'm a fan of another cult musician who was fairly big in the 80's and I buy his new stuff through his online shop.
He is working on a new album which will be released sometime early next year, but he says that pre orders don't qualify him for a chart position even if he has the sales figures. How do NMA make pre orders count?

I guess they all count on the first week of release.

You need to have a chart accredited shop. This can be either on your own website or through another company's website, which is why NMA use Townsend in the UK. Apparently to get your own online shop chart accredited as a complete pain. Hence Townsend.

Thanks Viv. Dare I ask do Townsend take a cut? I understand if you can't answer.
