Very happy to share out this feature I just completed for Negative Insight. I'm quite pleased with how it came out and hope that some fellow NMA fans will be able to appreciate it as well:

Young, Gifted and Skint: The Early Years of New Model Army (1980-1984)

Thank you to those of you who offered some suggestions and sent me in the right direction for gathering content. Even as a long time fan of a band I try to never assume I know everything about a group and do my best to research whatever that is we are writing about.

Please be sure to check out some of the other features on the site. If you enjoy what we do, please be sure to follow our Instagram account for new features and posts in the coming months:

CHEERS!

About Negative Insight:

Negative Insight is a magazine that focuses 1980s international, DIY hardcore punk.

Each issue is dedicated to covering a specific regional scene, presenting them in a way that pays homage to the legacy and greatness of the bands within that period. The magazine layouts are crafted using pre-digital era paste up techniques for a look that is heavily inspired by the aesthetic of 1980’s hardcore classics.

To go with the physical magazine, we have started this online component which will feature articles, interviews, photo features and more intended to highlight many behind the scenes stories of underground hardcore punk. We are constantly working on new material and have many exciting features in the works as we expand the website.

Hello Max,  :)

Your extremely thoughtful and well written feature on NMA turned out beautifully!  Thoroughly enjoyed it.  Only wish it'd been much, much longer, but beggars = me, cannot be choosers!  Pleased you listened to Ms. Morphine!  Thanks, both of you, for loving NMA and spreading the good word about them, their music.  Your piece will undoubtedly introduce many new souls to NMA/JS' wonderfully rich, musically diverse, extraordinary body of work, brilliant repertoire.

It all has to start somewhere, right?  So it might as well be, from their very beginning.  :)

Ever grateful,
8
