This is perhaps an incredibly stupid question, but I'm going to take the risk and post / ask it anyway...
Why isn't there a New Model Army, Mr. Sullivan,
Ms. Denby, or Red Sky Coven presence of any kind,
up at Bandcamp.com (https://bandcamp.com/)?
???
Where's the harm or hurdle? All of them could sell their merchandise via Bandcamp.com as well as the official NMA online shop, and the other outlets carrying / selling respective merchandise, be it physical or digital in kind.
I think it might prove beneficial to NMA & co., be an additional positive step, considering. What do you think? How do you feel about the idea? ???
Bandcamp.com has special days called Bandcamp Fridays, where once a month --- one would have to google it beforehand to be certain, though --- 100% of all sales goes directly to the bands and artists that have created the music. I believe having a few items listed there as well, might potentially invite / welcome new listeners, perhaps of a younger demographic as well, to check out NMA & co.'s work / back catalogue, buy product, etc.
There are a lot of already established independent bands / artists on Bandcamp.com as well as really obscure underground ones, from all sorts of musical genres. I'm a bit puzzled though, as to why NMA & co. haven't yet explored or looked into utilizing bandcamp.com to their advantage, to help them reach more people, sell official merchandise / product to, etc..
Bandcamp is really cool. You can buy single digital tracks, entire digital catalogues in one single go / transaction, physical merch such as brand-new CDs, LPs, cassettes, t-shirts, totes, etc. I'm assuming Bandcamp is quite possibly fairer to independent bands / artists than selling on places like Amazon, especially if core fans buy product on Bandcamp Fridays -- a special date that takes place once a month, every month and always on a Friday. As previously mentioned, interested folk would have to google the correct Bandcamp Friday date, particularly if they wish for the bands / artists to receive 100% of the profits of the sale(s).
I'm really sorry, I can't articulate for shit, embarrassed lol, but it genuinely does appear to be a decent platform... better than Spotify, Soundcloud, Amazon among others.
Bandcamp is a terrific site to discover and explore new music / artists. You can search bands / artists by city or genre to discover material / music / etc.. You can conveniently, immediately, electronically, sendoff any purchased digital downloads as gifts to friends, etc. It's really convenient that way too.
If there is nothing for NMA & co. to lose, or no real, great risk involved, then please, consider giving bandcamp.com a try as an additional valuable outlet, means to reach a greater audience.
I would love to put in a vote / request for NMA, Mr. Sullivan, Ms. Denby as well as Red Sky Coven to please, please, please, look into using Bandcamp.com as a means to introduce your respective repertoires / music to a potentially new, music-loving crowd, group of individuals, audience.
Personally, in terms of discovering new material, I think it beats radio, spotify, youtube, by a long shot.
Ok, goes without saying, I continually failed English while at school and do apologize for not getting my words in quite right, and for repeating myself, rambling.
Still, I do hope to see NMA + JS + JD + RSC pop up on Bandcamp.com at some point in the not-too-distant future. Where's the harm in it? Is there? ???
For folk not already familiar with Bandcamp.com, here's a bit more info and a link.
"How Bandcamp works
When a fan buys something on Bandcamp, an average of 82% of the money goes to the artist or their label — typically in 24-48 hours — and the remainder covers our revenue share and payment processor fees.
Since we only make money when artists make a lot more money, our interests remain aligned with those of our community. It’s a straightforward, artists-first approach, and one we’re happy to say works well. Fans have paid artists and their labels $1.01 billion using Bandcamp. In the past year alone, they’ve spent $188 million on 14.8 million digital albums, 8.0 million tracks, 1.8 million vinyl records, 850,000 CDs, 450,000 cassettes, and 150,000 t-shirts."
