The Leadmill has been evicted from it's building in Sheffield after a long dispute with the landlord.

Not sure how this affects the December gig?

Never went there but I heard it was a cracking good place to see a band.
Several venues I've loved in my decades of gig-going have disappeared (most notably Liverpool Royal Court)...

The building owners are saying they're going to reopen it as a music venue after refurb but forcing the Leadmill team out has caused serious ill-will in Sheff, and I expect there'll be organised boycotts if/when it opens its doors again and it can't be called the Leadmill.
Yes, it was a damn good venue, very much in the same vein as Rock City - I recall seeing the Damned there as their alter-egos Naz Nomad and the Nightmares, and Gong. Still kicking myself for not going to see the Tad/Nirvana gig there in 1990. As for lost venues of yesteryear, I still miss the Duchess of York (Leeds) and the Queens Hall (Bradford).

Leadmill gigs seem to be being moved over to the Foundry, at Sheffield Uni, which is a nice venue. At the moment I can't see anything on at the Foundry that night, so I assume we will get notification of the venue change soon.
