Title: Lemmy died ten years ago today...
Post by: Master Ray on December 28, 2025, 12:30:35 AM

Can't believe it's been that long.

Motorhead are one of my favourite bands and that fine gentleman was (imho) one of the greatest figures in rock EVER.

Uncompromising, mostly heavy as heck but often drifted into more melodic territory, they certainly weren't the one trick ponies that most people thought they were.  24 albums, some better than others but none of them were absolute stinkers.

I think I started a Motorhead thread way back in the day, can't be arsed to look it up to see if it's still there, but what do you lot think of this awesome band?  Got any fave tunes or albums?  Need any recommendations if you're interested in checking them out?  You know, that kind of stuff.

 ;)

Lemmy was one of a kind, who'd been everywhere, seen everything, done everything and was utterly his own man. I thoroughly recommend Mick Wall's biography for anyone wanting a good read and to get the full measure of him.
Favourite stuff... the  full live version of "Seven by Seven" from his Hawkwind days with the bass intro, "Keep us on the Road" and "Lost Johnny" from the first album, "One Track Mind" off the underrated "Another Perfect Day", the title track of "1916", and the cover of "God Save the Queen".

Another Perfect Day might well be my favourite Motorhead album, class from start to finish although a great big flop at the time...
