Title: UK Christmas dates announced...
Post by: Master Ray on March 02, 2026, 10:55:36 PM

Nottingham Rock City - Saturday 12 December.

London Roundhouse - Sunday 13 December.

Ah, this is a tough one for me... I love those Nottingham Christmas dates.  But if I go to see them in London I get The Chameleons as a support band!  And if I book right now then Premier Inn have some pretty decent hotel prices for that night...

(also, I would have thought that this would have been announced here?  Has the NMA Forum dropped off the bands radar so much that they don't think that anyone posts here anymore?  Did someone forget to cancel the whole thing?   ;D )

The band put a new album last year.  Pretty sure they're the same band!

Fun story... Mark Burgess, the lead singer, had a project called Bird who supported NMA at the London Astoria at some point in the early 2000s (I think!), London Astoria it was, that was what got me into The Chameleons in the first place, mainly because of the awesome 'Second Skin' song...  :)

I'm with you on "second skin" Master ray...that key change half way through is awesome...and don't forget "Dont fall"..How did I come to be drowning in this mess..ah ******* mess!..The Chameleons influence is much underrated.. Interpol and the editors probably wouldn't exist without them.

Yup, I thought that Editors and Interpol were hugely influenced by them... but The Chameleons have also been name-checked by Noel Gallagher, The Charlatans, The Slow Readers Club, The Verve and The Flaming Lips as being very influential.  The Chameleons might not have made a big splash in a commercial sense but the cool people were clearly listening!   ;)

Just working out prices and it seems that it might actually be cheaper to go down to That There London and get a Premier Inn for about £70 as opposed to £140 to the Nottingham date, train prices cheaper too... aw, a Nottingham Christmas trip has been such a tradition for me but I didn't meet up with old friends last year and The Chameleons on the bill as well?  Think it's London for me this year...  :)
