Great to see em out in the provinces and not in London. A much better venue that the HMV Forum anyway to my mind. And a good central point for south and north family. Can't wait

No shortage of hotels around the area - for the 30th I stayed in two different ones, both of which beat the commercial chains and were only £25 per night.

For some reason £38 when I looked tonight at the Premier Inn just round the corner, so booked! Stayed there for the 30th gigs, couldn't be handier, very much looking forward to renewing acquaintance with the Nottingham city centre pubs and a great venue. Presume if there are Euro dates this gig will be the end of the run given the proximity to the 25th cos apparently somthings happening that day?
-
i am also waiting for the announcement of the mainland gig dates :)

Off work and the premier inn is booked, so my Christmas party is sorted. We stayed there for the 30th shows. And has already been said a cracking venue which is central. ;D

Starting to think about doing another Xmas After Gig Gathering, as per Manchester. Any views? Any ideas where?
-
Go for it mate - loved the Manchester one!
You could try http://www.pub-explorer.com/notts/pub/tap&tumblernottingham.htm or the even more excellent http://www.salutationpub.com/

Great idea, count me in. No idea where, though!
-
Thanks for that. Just sent an enquiry to that Salutation Inn...sounds perfect and they've got a function room with 150 capacity. Awaiting a reply from them, will update asap.
-
Greeting from OZ
Now booked this will be my first NMA gig in 5 years :) and my son will be making his debut (he is 14)
-
Oops, looks like I accidently booked Christmas across the pond with a little stop in Nottingham.
Now to tell the wife. ;)
Now if I can just get the Bay Area weather to come too ::)
Can't wait.... should be fun.
Wonder if Ed will make an appearance? Wifee is still a little annoyed that we missed him at London during the 30th gigs.
-
The good news is he didn't do London, he did Rock City tho'! As did Joolz........ Space was brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad I missed London, coz rock City was perfect as far I'm concerned....... 8)

But you missed the "unruly pet" ;D
-
I think I'll cope, I missed hours of travel in freezing conditions...... Plus I was stuck bloody working aswell.......... :-X
-
Salutation say they can't do the 22nd! Any other suitable venue ideas please?
-
What you need Lawrence? Try the
Old Angel, they have a function room upstairs (The beer there is shite though),
Pit and Pendulum,
Tap N Tumbler (round corner from RC),
The Navigation - they have a bit of a stage, real ales, and is really cool by the canal. Its about 10 min walk from RC though...but Annie does the WORLDS best burgers......,
The Old Bell on the market square, they have a large main room, and two smaller side rooms,
The Rescue Room(?)
If ya need any more info, give me a shout.
Brucie.

If you are looking at post gig shindig...I know the manage of the cookie club and if we could assure him of numbers he could section us off a floor and appoint suitable DJ .. Not trying to steal anybody's thunder but would be happy to assist?
Txp
-
Now, that could be a plan........ ;)
-
I'll discuss with Aaron the manager and flat an idea on here , as mentioned accommodation at the Nelson & Railway could also be arranged and is a bus ride away!
The cookie club is open till 3 I think.
Be good to get the band on board to endorse this maybe come along.
There may be an entrance fee so watch this space for feasibility !

I've mentioned this already to LCG.
But why are we actually looking for another venue.
We will already be in a club that has an alternative disco after the band have finished.
It certainly did the trick after the 30th anniversary dates and for those who want a late beer there's always the Tap & Tumbler, The Sal and of course the Turf Tavern (til 4am).
Late curry around RC isn't too easy to find but there is one place I know! ;-)
-
True!!
So ... LCG just has to make arrangments with Rockcity.
-
Hi all. Feedback over the weekend was that it would be good to repeat what we did in Manchester. I've had a positive exchange with The Navigation this morning and hope to get something confirmed later today.
-
I looked at The Cookie Club and it seemed that it would be unavailable on a Saturday. Also, it would be better if there was no entrance charge? The Salutation is not available.
-
Maggi D, try
Mogal-e-azam - Nottingham.
Thats round the corner from RC, and not a bad curry house. If we can't get a late curry, maybe go for an early one?
The Nav is a good boozer, with several real ales....It's just a bit of a trek if the weather is foul.
-
The Nav's a decent pub and the owners are fans of rock/blues so I'm sure would welcome us lot. It's been close to closure many times and is usually a bit quiet on a Saturday as it's slightly off the beaten track (still only 10 mins from RC)...so I'm sure they'll welcome the trade too.
Good luck LCG - pre booking the baby sitters already - can't wait as the Manchester party was excellent, unlike my dancing ;D
Cheers for organising mate and please keep us posted.
-

i'd think carefully about doing such a thing... a few years ago a few of us went to sample the curry mile in Rusholme before a Manchester gig - and very nice it was too - but a big curry then a few pints and all you want to do is sit down!
-
The Curry Mile outing last December was really good. I am a believer in JC's uncanny knack of sniffin' out fine establishments........
That reminds me, I gotta get on n sort Bradford's shindig........ I believe Akbars is the place! =)
-
Akbar is good, I have also heard good things about Prashad too, despite it being veggie only, not that I have anything against herbivores mind you. We shall defer to your local knowledge Stoney.
Cheers
jc
-
Sapna is open till 4am on st James st but be warned ....

The Akbar it is then.........
I shall open a thread the morrow for numbers coz Akbar is quite small......... Need to fone em ans see what can be arranged aswell.........

Is that the place that's underground? If so, I reckon that's the place that Dave is alluding to with his ;) It's open late but bloody awful!
The spectator sport of watching the staff fight with customers provided some small distraction from the quality of the fayre on offer...just had to take care not to slip on the blood on the stairs on the way out!
-
the arse-end (literally) of the curry world...
Mogal e Azam...food very dodgy i'm afraid!
Desi Downtown (bit of a walk) is a good bet he does late nights for big bookings...I know 'em as well so could broker a deal?
Otherwise, Cumin on Maid Marian way (opp Salutation) would be my bet...

as Belza and jsyirish will tell ya it totally bollox£d me for the Manchester gig last Xmas, an all you can eat curry buffet less than 90 mins before NMA stage time was not a good mix, made the bouncy floor at the venue seem even harder to navigate
