That was not immediate for me!! Lazy mind....
How long did it take you to find it out?
-
Shortly after seeing the tour it was recorded at! ;D
-
When NMA played those gigs as Raw Melody Men before the album of the same name was recorded, if memory serves me well. I suppose that'd have been 1990/1991 ish
-
They played warm up shows as RAW MELODY MEN a few times between 85/90....
In 91 they did a summer tour as NMA, but the merch was RAW MEOLDY MEN........ the live lp came out and it was put to bed pretty much. Tho' the Bradford show THIS month is allegedly dubbed a RAW MELODY MEN gig again!
I've been to a couple and they are pretty much NMA gigs. No difference other than braggin' rights really........... Not that it matters. As long as the gig was GREAT, who cares.......... THERE, I said it!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Other gigs under pseudonyms:
16th May 1992 - London New Cross, The Venue (As GRIM NORTHERN BASTARDS)
4th December 1994 - Newcastle Riverside II (as GARDENERS OF EDEN)
5th December 1994 - Liverpool Lomax (as GARDENERS OF EDEN)
I'm sure that they did a Bradford show sometime in 85 with Psycho Surgeons supporting, but I can't remember the details at the moment)
-
I think there was at least one at Bradford Uni as RMM in 88? Warm n song tester fer Thunder n Consolation recordings. Can't remember the support bands name. But they were alot like the REDSKINS in sound and looks. It might even have been them fer all I know. I was ahem, a tad affected by booze! =) Buckled in truth............ Good night from what I remember!

I'm sure Peterborough in 2001 was as RMM as well :)

You are indeed correct! ;-)
There was also the "Lords of Chaos" tour in 1992 also the New Cross gig was billed as Grim Northern Bastards.
-
aha, I didn't know about the Peterborough one as the gig listings that I have I stopped doing at the end of 2000 (after compiling a list of the first 20 years!)
Any more info on the Lords of Chaos tour? Which gigs do you mean and were they billed as that?
The only date in 88 that I have for Bradford was at the Uni on 19th March, would that be a RMM gig?

I thought that were just known as NMA on that tour?
I was at the Middlesbrough one and there was nothing on the tickets/posters?
I did mention the GNB London gig above, is that what you mean??
-
Wasn't there also a RMM gig the night before they played at Reading Festival in '89, or am I totally imagining it? (I have a shameful feeling that I might be confusing it with the Nephs playing as The Watchmen before their Reading Fest appearance in '88.)
Actually, maybe I am thinking of the T&C gig that was a few days before. That'd make sense.
-
Yeah, that was the town and country gig, I think it was originally rumoured that they would play reading as RMM but I'm sure that they didn't!
It's a long time ago now!

The festival gig was definitely done as NMA, and was probably the best set I have ever seen at any festival anywhere ever.

We went to Peterborough - bloody great gig (as ever). I remember broken glass on the floor in the moshpit and them playing Sheena is a Punk Rocker in memory of Joey Ramone who'd just died. There was also no stage barrier from what I recall....
-
That Finsbury Park Gig they did on 1.6.91 - I bought a RMM t-shirt that day and still have it. I may wear it to Bradford.

Can't beat a crunchy dance floor! I think it was the first live outing for Stoned Fired and Full of Grace, also.
Nothing's changed at the venue in the 11 years since the gig, saw UK Subs there 2 weeks back and ended up mostly lying on top of Charlie's monitor courtesy of two very fat aging skinheads :P

Ha ha! Good to hear it's still rock n roll down there.
You're bang on about Stone, Fired and Full of Grace too - certainly the first time I'd heard it and I remember thinking how good it was.

Was at Boro in 92 for the Lords of Chaos - had the T shirt until it got nicked out of my car on hols (along with a lods of other sutff) in 97
