I am just gonna have to beg again for another US tour with a stop in Denver. Please come back!
-
LOL I know what you mean, dude. It would be much, MUCH easier to fly my wife to a location in the States (I'm Canadian).
-
yeah it is unfortunate that the Visas cost so much. Hopefully when a new album comes they can be tempted to come stateside again ;)
It sure is a way and wait for Nottingham!
-
HI jimhb!
We're in Denver too! Its a long story, but we've never seen the boys live and must do so before we die.
Must.
So we're thinking of ways to sweeten the deal, make it a little more appealing to come stateside:
- We work in printing and graphic arts. We can provide free posters, flyers, press-releases etc.
- We know a few folks in the local music scene
- We make an out of this world vegetarian quiche, found nowhere else in the world. Seriously, it would be worth the trip for this alone. :)
- Not only do we love the boys, but our dog loves them as well. She's listening to "Rivers" for the third time in a row as we write this. She would be grossly disappointed not to see them.
- The folks at 1190 and 1340 am have been responsive to our requests to play the boys and would be certain to lend a hand.
Jim Morrison of the Doors said you cannot petition the Lord with prayer. But perhaps we could petition the boys with quiche. Just a thought.

So long as there is enough notice to be able to juggle work and domestic commitments, and the bank balance permits, I would love to do a tour in the States :)
-
I missed em by about 3 weeks on the last one. We were booked into the same club in San Diego at one point but our promoter turned out to be a shyloc.......... =(
-
I'm there for the entirety of a US tour if there is another one, even if I end up doing it on my own! :)
-
I would be very much interested in organising a Magic Tour should the opportunity arise.
Cheers
jc
-
And I would be very much interested in:
A. helping JC out and
B. make sure I'm in the Magic Bus myself
-
Yes please!!!
-
Hey, if anyone from the band is reading this...... if not for the fans in the States then how about for Ceri? He probably wants to tour over here.
Put together a tour and everyone's happy.
It's a win-win!!
-
Save me a seat on the Bus JC.. ;)

No worries, plenty of time yet.

count me in on a usa tour, fingers crossed
-
Well if their is another US Tour (Sounds good to me) you can count on the New York contingent of the Family to Represent. ;D 8)
-
I know I likely won't be the straw that breaks the camel's back with this, but seeing them again would be killer. Saw 'em in JS & Friends in Richmond and NMA in DC, but it's been years.

Good info on the cost and the time investment needed. Hopefully something comes of it.
I always heard it was arduous and costly :(
-
Well, if the issue is US visas, perhaps, and this isn't the best option for all of us, but perhaps a tour of Canada would work? Toronto, Montreal, Windsor, Vancouver, Calgary... Seems it might be a good compromise to get them back in NA anyway?
-
Personally I'd prefer another Justin n Dean tour. The 2004 tour was one of the best times I've ever had doing gigs...

I'll second that! Whatever it takes...

Would love to see them back in Chicago as well. We were spoiled for a while with a few shows in Chicago and nearby, but it's been ages now. Just trying to tell myself that we really need to visit family in Nottingham for Christmas this year (even though the bank balance, or lack thereof, tells me otherwise).
-
An NMA American tour sounds fantastic! :)
I am in the south-east but would gladly travel anywhere in the U.S. to see them.
Hell, I am even travelling across the Atlantic to see them next week.
Though an American tour probably be hard and costly for the band.
-
Just woke up thinking about a possible North American tour! If the main problem is the cost, could we put together a crowdsourcing appeal on kickstarter or indiegogo? That way, the NA contingent can put our money where our mouths are, and do our best to ensure that tours here aren't financial sinkholes for the band. It may also help by way of promotion. The other thing I was thinking, is put the damn ticket prices up! Twelve bucks for a NMA show is nothing - there are local bands playing here in Toronto, not fit to wash Dean's underpants, charging three times that and no one bats an eye.
What do people think?
-
although I am England I think you should, would love to come and see the band in the States sometime

I'm in Nashville, where are you? Justin brought the Justin and Daves' show to Nashville in 2003 (I think), after my hounding of Tommy. He did tell me that if I wanted to see the full band, I'd have to travel at least to Chicago. The S/E just can't support a full band tour. Was glad to see them in NY for the 30th anni shows.

They toured the U.S. for Today is a Good Day and High (of their recent albums and toured the U.S. for Love of Hopeless Causes and Thunder & Consolation too). So not sure why they wouldn't for this album. The news on the front page says they're doing a full tour, so hopefully that means the U.S. too.

When they scheduled the 30th anniversary shows in the US to get a couple of shows in before their visas from the TIGD tour ran out. Justin also said that this would likely be the last US shows for a good while as the visas were hard to come by and very expensive. So, don't assume that it's a given. But keep hope alive.

Ah, I did not know that. I certainly hope they do come to the U.S. They are fantastic live.

Come over to the UK!!
Despite the recession, flights are still cheap.
There will be plenty of advice here on cheap accommodation local to the gig for you guys coming over !!
-
Come on over, would you be interested if I put another bus tour together?
Cheers
jc
-
JC; a bus for UK dates or a bus for US dates?
-
Either or both, don't know at this stage but I do need to spread the word that I am interested in putting something together so that people don't go off and start booking stuff up as soon as dates are announced by venues.
Maybe I should start another thread to gauge interest....
Cheers

I'm not sure of the visa cost for the US as it depends on the visa type.. From a quick look it is a Px or Ox visa (where x is a number) seems they are about $2500-$3000 but I could be wildly off. If you factor in the additional flight, tour van, costs etc it would seem that it would be up around $10K plus to get the band over.
I wonder if they guys have thought of a kickstarter like campaign to get funds to help with the visa and costs? It would be really interesting to see how much we could do to help 'em get to the States soon. I would be game to help out.
I'm still going to Nottingham December again though - can't miss that. Last year was so much fun and good to see the cold and rain for a change to California. ::)
