Anyone know anything about the music played before the sets? I think it's a compilation CD (home-made or bought), because the tracks are usually the same and I think in the same order as well? There's one in particular I like and I have no idea what it is - it reminds me a bit of Nutbush City Limits by Tina Turner (it isn't - the tune is different, but it has a similar kind of 'feel' to it) - I wait to be told it's something very obvious :) ! Any ideas? Also curious as to why these tracks and who chose them?

I know they played the same tape a while ago (1 or 2 years??) with 'Heavy cross' by Gossip in the playlist. After a few gigs I knew - when Gossip is over the band will be on stage soon ;)
To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to the pre-set music lately ... too busy talking!!

I believe the pre-gig sounds are compiled by JS, so you'll have to ask him yourself, as I am useless with soul type musics.
Cheers

The last few I've been to have included a PJ Harvey song. I think, from drunken memory, it was 'The Words That Maketh Murder' from the outstanding album 'Let England Shake'. I know JS is a big fan of Polly.
I also seem to remember from around 1990 they used to put Althia & Donna's Uptown Top Ranking on immediately after the gig ended......

Foo Fighters "All my life" was on it a couple of tours back.
-
Uptown Top Ranking (Althea and Donna) was there somewhere for a while too.

One song that gets a regular airing is Larry Williams and Johnny Watson's "Too Late"

Took a long time to find this... but this was it :)
Not the same version as the preset tape version I think, but still damn good all the same...
