Hi everybody,
currently we (a family of 2 adults and 2 children (5 & 3 yrs) from Germany) are planning our summer vacation for next year and Cornwall is one of our favourites in the pool of possible destinations. As I know a lot of people on this board are quite familiar with that area I would like to ask if someone could suggest a nice place to stay (we are planning to stay for 2 weeks).
We are looking for nothing special. Of course a nice, cosy little cottage not far from the sea would be superb, but we are not bound to that. Another possibiliy would be some kind of accommodation attached to a farm house, as our kids - as most likely any kids - love animals and trucks ;) All in all it should be affordable (I know, this is subjective ;) ).
Of course I know that a Google search displays a large amount of hits on this topic but maybe someone from the board can share a suggestion based on personal experience.

We stayed in Gwithian in 2005 with our 2 year old in a lovely cottage (sorry can't remember the exact details). The beach was stunning and we had had great holiday but there wasn't that much for kids. Padstow and St Ives were great for kids. Lizard Point (the UK's most southerly place) was also interesting and worth a visit.
Fowey would be a place to visit as it's home to the Sawmills Studio where NMA created much magic (although I think it's a boat ride away and probably not open to the public :)).

We just booked a nice little cottage in Germoe near Marazion. We'll stay there for a week in mid of May and are planning to make another 2-3 day stop in West Lulworth (Jurassic Coast, Dorset) on our way back to Dover.
Can't wait :)

Thanks a lot for your reply, but as you can see in the posting above yours we already found and booked a gorgeous looking (at least from the pictures we saw) cottage.
Nevertheless this would most propably have kept me from booking something at Leycroft Valley:
"The majority of our guests are couples and they choose to stay here to enjoy the peace and quiet of the secluded surroundings. While we do not wish to exclude families it is important that parents understand the limitations of our site before booking with us.
We do not have any of the attractions that you may be used to on a larger family site, such as a playground, games room or swimming pool. The site itself has a few natural hazards such as a stream running into a pond and steep steps and slopes around the lodges so we politely request that an adult supervises children at all times to avoid any mishaps."
Doesn't sound as if they were too keen on having little monsters running around the property ;)

Good spot Guido - ideal for the Lizard, St Ives etc. Last we went we stayed at Calamankey Farm - the guy keeps llamas :) Many amazing places near where you`re staying. Enjoy! :)
