Title: Building towers !
Post by: orange223 on November 23, 2012, 07:47:21 AM
After a couple of visits to rock city in the 10 days its now become clear that any one sitting on shoulders or building towers is asked to get down , they send the bouncers into the pit !
Also any one having a crafty smoke in there is binned out via stage door right . Be warned & keep building ;-)

Pity...but I suppose that won't stop some hardcore NMA fans who are already training for the christmas shows this year (see link  ;)):

Hmmm... I was at The Levellers at RC a few days back and I saw a fair few girls on their boyfriends shoulders... maybe if you're wearing tight tops and are pretty, the bouncers don't mind so much?

No matter... how many of them are there?  And how many of US are there?

I love Nottingham Rock City... but we can take 'em!

Best response to this sort of thing that I can remember was at the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh a few years back (not the most recent visit I don't think).  During Green & Grey (last song), after lots of earlier bouncer intervention,  the majority of people were either on someone's shoulders or had someone on their shoulders.......the bouncers pretty much shrugged and gave up!

They were OK with the girl sat on someone's shoulders - as she was on there for 3 or 4 songs with no problems. It was when she went for the standing on the shoulders that the security came over and asked her to come down.  Then when she later sat on someone's shoulders she got asked to come down. So don't know if they'd have bothered with the sitting on shoulders at all - but the standing on shoulders seemed to spring them into action.

At Beautiful Days the security were looking at bit concerned at the front of the stage when some towers went up - but Justin just said "don't worry about those standing on others' shoulders, they've been practising more than Olympic gymnasts - they're professionals" - and the security seemed happy with that  8)

Hopefully they can be quelled by Justin informing them that we are, in fact, all trained acrobats again.

Hi all. It was me this said girl on shoulders at the Levs gig - bet some of you could have put a bit of money on that one,) They weren't ok with it - distinctly not ok with it - but, well, I kept trying anyway and thought I might as well try standing just to piss them off a bit further!!

On the plus side, we had a long chat with security after about the NMA gig and they assured us it would be ok as "they were briefed for it at the Army".... Makes no sense.... Surely if it's  dangerous it's dangerous whether they've been"briefed" or not!

So, fingers crossed then hey!

Oh and btw - won't complain at the pretty girl comment :)

Im not sure when I last saw a proper pyramid - probably for the best, really, given our advancing years!
