hello everyone. hope this is in the right spot. been reading the forums for a couple of years, but never posted.
i first started listening to nma when i was stationed in germany in 89. came across the t&c disc in the store and promptly proceeded to wear it out. have seen them live 3 times, first time was the impurity tour in ludwigshafen, ge. second time was the high tour in austin, tx, and finally the tiagd tour in seattle.
my question is, when you aren't listening to nma, what else do you listen to? i've been wanting to add to my music collection (i have a lot of old stuff, but not so much new), but living here in the middle of bfe, we don't get exposed to a lot of new stuff. sure, i could search for it on the internet, but that's like looking for a needle in a haystack
so let's hear what else you like to listen to :)

All sorts of stuff from AC/DC to ZZ TOP alphetically speaking! lol
Mostly Hardcore/Punk/Metal/Psychobilly/Blues/Rock............
Basically guitar based stuff I suppose........... There's only two kinds of music tho really, there's the crap that often ends up on MTV and the radio, and the REALLY GOOD stuff I play in the car, on the cd player in the kitchen, Spoptify or where ever the mood takes me.....
Been on a bit of a ZAKK WYLDE and DOWN kick for a while and Killing Joke aswell. Plus a boat load of 80's hardcore punk and crossover stuff. Plus a bit of 70's rock like Thin Lizzy/Deep Purple n Led Zep.......... The Cult aswell.

i thank you for your replies. and stephanie, i had to go to bing to translate that ;D i think you said that 'there are so many musical styles, that it's sad to listen to only one'. i purposely avoided mention of what else i listen to in my op for just that reason. i do like lots of different styles, but i do favor alt/rock. thanks for the specifics, many of them i already have and listen to, but a few were mentioned that i will have to look up and check out.
please keep the specific bands coming, good research material for me.

Interesting list mate, do you know what E.P. Rob played on with HAWKWIND. I got told years ago he did some recording in his brief stint with Brock's troops. It eventually got released but I never did find out what it was.... ???
-
Well there are so many groups that I have listened to and brought albums through out the years I could not list them all. I probably would not remember them all anyway But to answer your question I would say
Pretty much all the British Invasion bands from the early 60's I am sure any music fan knows all the major players.
The 2nd British Invasion bands and for that include Pink Floyd,Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Yes, ELP,King Crimson,
The punk era Sex pistols, Clash, the Damned, Lords of the New Church
Metal bands Iron Maiden, Metallica. Black Sabbath and many others
Progressive rock, Tool, Porcupine Tree, Anathema,
and let me include Hawkwind and Jethro Tull as I have no catagory to put them in ;D 8)

I certainly do know, Rob drums on 'Night Of The Hawks - The Earth Ritual Preview' EP. Lemmy plays bass on it as well, so double the reason for picking up a copy at a record fair/eBay.

Top man! Ta fer that.............. Been driving me daft tryin' to remember. :o

I'm all over the map with music these days. NMA is obviously a constant but classic metal is never too far away (Sabbath, Priest, Accept, old Scorpions etc). Thrash and early death metal get regular spins (Early Metallica and Slayer, Sepultura, Death). Crossover and NYHC (Crumbsuckers, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Leeway). The you have bands like Fear, Bad Religion, Suicidal Tendencies, Tool etc. Lots of guitar players (Hendrix, SRV, Indigenous, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Satriani, Andy Timmons etc). Mellower stuff like Antimatter is REALLY getting a lot of listens these days. Russian Circles is a killer band. Even some of the more commercial stuff is pretty cool. As long as it's a good SONG, I'll give it a shot. Oh man, I could keep going and going.....
-
Hi up Stoney mate. I think we are both showing are Age re-RockGoddess-and -Fugazi But both Classic Bands 8) Still.
-
everyone,
thanks for the suggestions, i will certainly check them out. i have a decent collection, but it's mostly 'older' and sometimes you just feel like something different. i've done the pandora thing, but it just mostly plays stuff that i already have, so figured i would ask the 'experts'.
a few bands that i listen to that i didn't see anyone list, the ramones, concrete blonde, gov't mule, green day, the offspring, 999, boomtown rats, cobra skulls, jesse cook, the dickies, dropkick murphys, and a whole bunch more.....
