Title: The Snowey Place
Post by: Wessexy Witch on January 19, 2013, 01:09:08 PM
Is everyone ok and coping ?
All our local schools were closed yesterday (including mine,so I got a day off) and all the buses stopped running.
I'm lucky enough to be able to walk to work and have a supermarket within walking distance,so my car is quite happy sleeping through the snow.
I spent the day walking around and taking photos all morning then baking all afternoon, but I know some of you might be a bit worse off.

My elderly neighbours are ok and are doing the shopping for oldies older than themselves.
Please make sure your older/less capable neighbours/family are alright. If your Nan lives a long way off, just give her a phone everyday to make sure she is alright and drinking enough cups tea and remembering to have something to eat.
My Nan lived 80 miles away and has died now,so I don't worry about her anymore, but I still worry about others who might be just sitting there in their chairs alone and freezing.

 :(

Have just made good on your suggestion and spent 15 minutes speaking on the phone to my grandmother - she's fine, but was very pleased to hear from me nonetheless, so thanks very much!

Yesterday someone kicked the head off my snowman.
 :(
Today someone has rolled away the body !
 >:(

^^^I'm glad you lot are alright^^^

 :)

A young couple who live behind me have built a huge Igloo in their front garden using the recycling box to shape the bricks.
It's prolly 6ft tall/round.
Very impressive !

Just back from Athens. I love the snow. My corner of South London looks fab when its covered in a nice blanket of white stuff. The dog loves it too.

At least you didn't wake up with it next to your face.  Old snowman Mafia trick there.

It all started to defrost and thaw out abit today..until it started again at about 4ish.
Looks like it's going to snow all night and all day tomorrow too.
We took both of our reception classes out for a walk around the school field and in the woods today, which was really nice for the children who aren't allowed to go out in the snow.

Ice here too. I slipped up and landed on my hip walking to school this morning.
*ouch*
 :(
Things are good with me this year. I'm in  still reception for my second year which means I'm doing well because the whole school had a re jig of teachers and assistants in September and everyone was moved except for me and my teacher. We're expecting OFSTEAD any time and the school needed to have the best possible team in key stage 1. Soooo that's where I am.

Keep on with the job applications. Don't give up. Apply for everything ! Don't forget Pre Schools/Nurseries/Toddler Groups ! It's all experience in the right area.
Lot's of schools take on again at Easter,so that might give you another chance.

Good Luck

 :-*

This prolly should of been a PM.
Sorry everyone !
