I've only been to the London Forum once, but it's a bloody good venue... plus it's just down the road from Camden, where there are some damn fine pubs...
-
Lets hope that the BULL & GATE is still open come November. Another great venue under threat and right next door to the Forum.

I'm afraid last I heard it was shutting down on 4th May... or has anything changed? But yeah, another great venue has bitten (or is about to bite) the dust

Nice one nma back in london after quite a while and right in my area!...Bull and gate is shut and turning into another generic gastropub unfortuantely, go 10 mins down the road to the devonshire arms in camden for a pre gig drink, its a "rock" bar that still has a get me out poster on the roof from 1991! put a message up if anyone wants area info.x

Huwcamden, you ever been to the Roundhouse? Saw the Sisters Of Mercy there about 18 months ago and, much as I like The Forum, I like the RH even more. NMA would be have been brilliant there...
-
Yeah i agree m.r. roundhouse is ace, saw the damned and the manics there recently, great venue great heritage with jimi hendrix/doors/who etc playing there in the 70's, its 3000 capacity so almost twice that of the forum and nma could prob fill that still but there's nothing quite like the old "town and country club"! x

Saw Killing Joke at the Forum in march and they were superb...
Do love that venue

I say a few bands there about 18 months ago including The Damned, Dropkicks, King Blues and Frank Turner and every time I thought the sound was truly awful - to the point I actually complained to the sound desk on the night - since that period they seem to have stopped holding similar gigs - probably a coincidence but maybe they have a problem with the 'rock' sound setup ? Forum every time for me

I was at that SoM gig too and yeah, it was great - in fact the best I've seen them in at least 15 years.... but I also was at Killing Joke last year as well as other, more rock gigs, over the last few years and the sound was shit pretty much every time (with KJ the comparison was pretty obvious, seeing as when they played the Apollo the year before and the Forum the one after - this March just gone - they were excellent both times), so I'm with Berko_kev on this one, the Roundhouse simply doesn't seem to be cut for rock gigs - so while I don't love the Forum (bit too sterile for me) I'd still much rather the Army played there.
Now, one venue I've always liked and would love to see NMA play in is the Empire in Shepherds Bush, but unfortunately it's not gonna happen cos apparently the standing area is too small for a following like ours (although the total capacity is actually larger than the Forum - 2000, to the Forum's 1500)

I may just HAVE to make The Forum...... The old T n C Club was such a brilliant gig!
-
Yay, 4 days after my birthday too. Now that's a 50th birthday pressie ! I'm there !!

Where are folk staying?? A quick trawl of the tinterweb finds all hotels are stooooopid prices!!!!
Brucie.

Don't be afraid to stay out of the immediate area. When I'm in London, I usually stay at the Premier Inn in Earls Court. You can get some really good rates there and it's only a 20-minute Tube ride away.
