Title: Forman"s Punk Bar in Nottingham
Post by: Shush on June 03, 2013, 11:05:00 PM
I know I have gone on about this before, but If you ever come to Nottingham, you must find time to visit Foreman's Punk Rock Bar.Right in the centre of Nottingham surrounded by restaurants, looking well out of place., but Punk Rock is well and truly alive here in Nottingham. A great little pub, and also a venue for one or two performers at most on the little stage. -- just enough room for Justin and Dean !! -- IF ONLY..

My Friend Paul behind the bar always sticks on a bit of NMA for me.(and there's not many places that do ) Last Saturday night, it was Vengeance. Always good to hear an NMA song at a volume I would not get away with at home. Among many other old time punks songs on Saturday, a rare bit of Generation-X, Pistols, Clash, Blondie, and some Slayer.  Me and the missuz and a few others had a good dance along to some of the tunes. The night finishing at 11.00pm with the Dropkick Murphy's, - Kiss Me, I"m Shitfaced, which got my  punk rocker friend (and NMA fan) , JJ tacking to the stage for a heart felt sing along.

Forman's has  recently seen some famous names perform there including Glen Matlock and Henry Cluney. The bar shuts at 11pm sadly. It has something to do with the licence the place has as a music venue with a crowd capacity of 45. If they had a later licence, the capacity allowed would drop to around 17.

Punk band resistance 77 wrote a song about the place, and recorded their video there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yA0DQD_q4o

Glen Matlock   doing God Save the Queen      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN__ZajgXD0

And best of all, some of you may recognise NMA fan JJ, although he usually has his Mohican up, doing good service to the Dropkick Murphy's.

Looks good - just tried to find whereabouts, and it looks like it's only just down the road from Rock City - may be worth having a look round in December?
Pity its not open afterwards - although a  17 capacity sounds like it may be just a tad intimate.  :)

Shush, we've talked about this before... I too stumbled across Formans last December after NMA's Christmas gig and I echo the statement that it's a bloody good place to drink.

I don't get to Nottingham nearly as much as I'd like to, but if I did, I'd be a regular!

Deffo check it out if you're in the area.
