... who knows, if this thread gets enough responses, maybe the lads might go 'hey, I remember that one, its a good tune...' and they might throw it into the set on the November tour... here's hoping.
For me, it's gotta be...
Modern Times
Courage
Knife
I've seen the first two tracks played live once and once only, the latter never.
One of the things I love about this band is how they usually throw a couple of rare tracks into any set they play...
What you guys hoping for in November?
???
-
Think I've probably heard most songs I wanted to over the years but pretty sure I never heard Nothing Touches or Still Here and would like to hear Gigabyte Wars which was played on the Strange Brotherhood tour but never since as far as I can remember.
-
All of your songs were playing regularly on the 30th anniversary tour, Master Ray. ;)
Hm, only three songs?
Fireworks Night
Ballad of Bodmin Pill
Stoned, Fired, Full of Grace

I only saw one date on the 30th tour...
Three great choices, mate! I seem to remember Mr Sullivan saying that FN is a song thats far too personal to ever play live... has it ever been played? I love that song...
BOBP.... correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the lads have played it quite a few times in recent tours..?
SFAFOG... another brilliant song, only ever heard it on the Justin and Friends shows... I'd love to hear a full-band version of that tune.

Oh bless you. What a beautiful song. I would love to hear that, mid set, a refreshing rest from the pit. Nothing touches x3
-
Far better Thing
Refugee
Higher Wall
-
I'm curious about what the split will be between old and new songs on the new tour, especially with it being the 1st new album since the 30th, and feeling a bit like 'dawn of a new era'.
But if I were thinking about tracks I would like to hear but are a bit less likely then maybe Family Life (ie the tram across the city one), and the Price. And they can never play Bodmin Pill too often in my view :)
Maybe a good idea limiting it to 3 otherwise we could go on forever !
-
Far better Thing
Refugee
Higher Wall
LOVE Far Better Thing! But (again, I might have this wrong) weren't NMA unhappy about that and Higher Wall coming out on their unsanctioned EMI best Of album? Dunno why, both terrific songs!
Refugee is also a cracker.
Yes, you are only allowed three songs on this thread!
;D
-
The Price
Trust
Smalltown England ( yes I know it gets played a bit but it's my favourite)
If I can't have this I'd like to hear 11 Years more often
-
Still only heard The Price just the once live so that's up there. And a couple I haven't heard for years - Lights Go Out & My Country would be good :)
-
PRISON ;)
Far Better Thing
Fireworks Night
-
Falling
My Country
Modern Times
-
I only saw one date on the 30th tour...
Now that's a shame - that was a great opportunity to hear some of the more obscure songs live...

Thanks! That's probably my favourite NMA song (ironically, on my least favourite album), never been played live that I know of, but I live in hope... Probably more likely to happen at a solo show if it ever happens. (North Star has been played at a few solo shows, I suspect that one's just as personal.)
BOBP.... correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the lads have played it quite a few times in recent tours..?
I'm sure it's been played a fair bit over the years, but I don't remember hearing it much lately. But hey, if it's not rare enough, I'll be happy to swap it for something else. ;)
Flying Through the Smoke made a rare appearance at Rebellion, I'd be quite happy to hear that more often.
SFAFOG... another brilliant song, only ever heard it on the Justin and Friends shows... I'd love to hear a full-band version of that tune.
Same here, only heard it solo, a full band version would be great. Or a recorded version, for that matter. ;)

My Country
My People
Archway Towers
-
The Price
Ambition
Belisha Beacon and the Accidents(only heard it live once,or was I dreaming :D)

never heard of that song O_o
I guess it's some kind of demo?
anyone has a mp3 of it available?

The Price
The Price
The Price
-
South West
I've never heard it played live - and i'm not sure if it ever has been played live, which is strange as its quite a straight ahead tune with no studio trickery
-
I have been listening to NMA since early nineties but I have only been to 3 gigs. My 1st was in 2011 so there are loads of songs I would like to here live that most people on here have probably heard. My 3 choices are These words, Brave New World II and Family.
-
Used to live it when gigs closed with 125mph, would like to hear that again.
Really like Sunset as well, not sure if it has ever been played live?
Vanity is a great and underplayed song.
-
Oh, some great choices coming up on this thread, choices that have had me running to my CD collection, thinking 'dammit, I ain't heard THAT in a while...'
Please, keep 'em coming!
-
Oh so many to choose from.... Would love to hear live;
Bittersweet
Big Blue
Understand U
or about 20 more...
-
The Price
Nothing touches
Headlights
Leeds Road 3AM
Innocence
Bury the Hatchet
Eleven years
...
-
Great Expectations
The Price
Vanity
That said would love to hear Nothing Touches and Sunset too
That's not much to ask, it's really not, etc etc etc lol
-
Hello folks - I'm new here 8) some great songs chosen in this thread - Stoned Fired, Big Blue, Eleven Years, BNW 2, Courage, The Price, My Country and Nothing Touches - I'd go for some of these but I really like
Betcha and
Waiting
and
No Greater Love
Perversely I prefer the recent Army stuff to the older stuff but I'm sure there's no point in creating another account just to add Bad Old World and Orange Tree Roads and Mambo Queen
x
-
I'd go with My Country
Heroes(full band version)
London......Well I can live in hope!!!
-
Family Life (I've never heard it live but it could be fairly common for all I know)
Nothing Touches
Ghost of your father
-

No shame in preferring the new stuff. I think I've said before that, much as I like the first couple of albums, I'm a bit tired of them after listening to them a gazillion times. High and TIAGD, on the other hand, still sound fresh and exciting and I expect BDAW to follow on...
That said, I found an original 7" single of Great Expectations a few years back at a record fayre, paid only a quid for it... I'd love to hear that tune again...
-
Coming Up
Ambition
Bitter Sweet
-
South West
Mixam
Big Blue
-
I would be chuffed to hear:
Gigabyte Wars
Refugee
Archway Towers
-
The three that I hope to hear the most....
Far better Thing
Ghost of Your Father
Killing (This would be excellent with Marshall & Ceri)
Oh, and Heroin
-
...hmm, seem to be in an Impurity state of mind...
Lurhstaap
11 Years
and one more night with Ed sitting in on "Vagabonds" and "Purity"
-
The Price
Killing
Brave New World
I was delighted when BNW made an appearance during last years Xmas gigs, and gutted that it seems to have disappeared from the setlist again. I've never heard the other two performed live.
-
I was bored, so I thought I'd count up what songs people have been wishing for...
Based on posts so far, the rare song most people want to hear live is The Price (mentioned 8 times).
Runners-up are My Country (4 times), Nothing Touches (4 times), and Far Better Thing (3 times).

I was too lazy to narrow it down to three and post (also because this question has come up quite a few times over the years) but you can add another vote for The Price - one of the very few songs by them I've never seen them do live
-
The Price :o
Waiting 8)
I Wish :D
-
I only once had a chance to see a J&D show, 'cause NMA don't play very often in my part of the world, so there's really plenty of songs I missed hearing live. I guess I'll list the songs I'd like to hear now, and maybe tomorrow I'd feel completely different...
1. The Charge
2. Nothing Touches
3. Betcha
-
Can I have another go? Just to put in the mix the heavy version of Before I Get Old - but played later in the set cos the only time I've heard it was the first song on the High tour at Brighton and would like to have a proper freak out once the body has had a chance to warm up a bit .....
-
Anyone for 'The Cause'?
-
Waiting
Ghost of your father
Courage
These three, one after the other, loud as all hell, with everyone knowing the words and shouting on, would pretty much nail it for me....
-
HEROIN!!!!
Prison (good call Jason Jibberish)
Marrakes or Knife
-
Just the new album in its entirety twice please!!
-
I know I've already had my three but hey ho-would also love to hear No Mans Land. They used to play it regularly in the late 80's but I don't think I've heard it live since.
-
Heroin
Ghost of Your Father
Marry The Sea
B Sides And Abandoned Tracks was the first NMA album I ever bought, and it's still one of my favourite even now. This limited to three songs thing is quite hard, and there were others that nearly made it. Marrakesh, Rumour And Rapture, One Of The Chosen, Song To The Men Of England and My Country all come very close to the three I've chosen.
-
Ballad 2 - Only ever heard a demo of this song and really like it but as far as I know Justin has only ever played it solo a couple of times
Brave New World 2 - This was played live years and years ago but again another one I'd love to hear
Trust - I'm digitizing some old live cassettes at the moment and came across this one but not quite sure where it's from.
-
Great expectations
Running in the rain
Betcha (the absolute perfect ultimate encore !)
-
Ambition
songs that I know have been played recently but I haven't heard
Master Race
Lust For Power
i guess those are my official three
close runners up
The Price
The Cause
125 mph
Brave New World
-
Smalltown England hasn't been played for ages - got missed out at the 30th Anniversary - Was one of the early NMA songs that really hooked and reeled me in Would love to see that re appear in the setlilsts sometime soon.
